when I am on the bike it tells me 1 number as far as calories burned but when I put it into MFP it tells me a higher number. Which is right? I am going with the lower number just to be safe.

Buy a HRM to be sure.

Mfp is so not wright when it comes with numbers. I alway use my own.

I'd imagine it's tough for MFP to calculate accurately - they wouldn't know your effort, intensity, weight, etc. The gym reading might be slightly closer, but I still think it is likely to be off. A HRM set to your specific body would be best.

I'd use the number on the bike and look toward purchasing an HRM.

Does your bike have your height, weight, age, sex etc logged into it, MFP as far as I am aware takes all this into concideration when you log an exercise? as was discussing this with a work collegue who also uses the site and her figure for a walk, same time, speed etc was alot lower for cal burn than mine, but then she is several stone lighter than me and I am a few years younger. The lighter you are the less energy used.

I agree though the best way to get the correct figure is with a HRM.
