Best excercises for women in the gym?

Hi all, just looking some advice on what the best things are to do for a new gym member? I know cardio is the best for fat burning but I am sure weight training should be involved also? Any advice on what combinations to do would be appreciated! Also I cant seem to find cross-trainers on the exercise log-any advice? I have just logged it as walksing as it was a similar amount of calories burned....Thanks!

Does your gym allow you to meet with a personal trainer? Mine allowed me 1 evaluation + 1 session, plus I'm told that I can periodically schedule evaluations to check my progress. It was really helpful to have someone tailor a plan to my goals & fitness level0
