I have been doing well staying under the calorie net but i may be doing some things wrong.

Was wondering you (my fellow MFPers) can take a look and see if i can change things around or maybe im doing everything just fine.

Or suggest other things

I don't see very many/any veggies... And you could afford to eat another snack throughout the day.

Eat more, much much more. Try eating more veggies as well.

MFP has a min calorie limit of 1200/day, this is meant for women, a man should get a minimum of 1500-1600 Net calories to lose weight, if you are under 1500, your goal is probably too aggressive for how much you have to lose. If you are set up for 2 lb/week loss, change to 1.5.

I would suggest making your portion sizes a little bit bigger just to kick it up to 1200 calories. It looks like you're not eating enough and you're going to slow down your metabolism. Then you won't lose any weight.

I don't see many at all. You should be getting 3-5 servings of veggies/day and 1-3 fruit.

Your calories are really low. If you are worried about having a bank of calories at the end of the day try adding exercise and then saving those calories, but dont try to save your calories that sustain you. You do realize that MFP gives you a deficit and that you do not need to continue to have one right? (I get it i like to have a few calories leftover too just in case i miscalculated a calorie count or calorie burn) but def eating too little in my opinion.

This! You aren't eating enough and I don't see hardly any veggies.

Also, what are your goals? Are you just trying to lose weight or gain muscle or what? And you're tracking potassium - why? And what about sodium (which is actually really good in your diary).

...you could afford to eat another snack throughout the day.

    ^^^^ This.

I went back a week and I don't think I saw one day where you left less than 100 calories on the table. Some days you had 400-600 calories left. Keep in mind - MFP has already given you a calorie deficit based on your choices when you signed up (lose 1 pound a week, activity levels, etc). Try to keep your NET as close to 0 as possible.

EAT MORE! My goodness I eat more at breakfast than you do all day. You need to keep your metabolism going. 1500 NET cals minimum for a guy. Good luck!!

Wow, that's not a lot of calories. How tall are you and what is your current weight? Also, are you logging exercise? Finally, how do you feel throughout the day...are more tired than before you started your healthy lifestyle change (aka diet)?

Try wheatgrass to up your veggie count. I'm really bad about getting my veggies in so this is a great way to help supplement what I don't eat.

Try fitting in more snacks throughout the day to up your calories and keep your metabolism level.

  • Looks like you aren't eating much. I would say eat more but make sure they are healthy choices. I'm losing about 2lbs every week...feel free to look at my diary if you want ideas! :-)

I agree with EricKirb, looked through your food diary, you clearly are not eating enough calories. If you have set your weight loss goal to 2 lbs a week, make sure you are eating all those net calories, otherwise you will shoot your metabolism in the foot and not lose very well. Your food choices look pretty good, just increase veggies and protein, and eat more.

If you are working out, make sure to log it and eat your net calories. I know it is really tempting (especially when you are starting out) to think you are succeeding by eating even less that your recommended amount, but you will more likely loose muscle and put unnecessary stress on your body.

you are not eating nearly enough!!! EAt exactly what your net goal is not more not less!!!!!

You really need to eat more, an easy and nutritious way would be to add a cup of brown rice or sweet potato in there somewhere. Maybe a bit more lean meat.

Dude, I respect your dedication, but I think your diet may be too extreme. Also, are you exercising? A major worry is energy output. Do you feel tired? Or run down? Your caloric intake doesn't seem viable if you want to be somewhat active.

According to your diary, you seem to have a focus on potassium. Have you tried munching on sweet potatoes on a regular basis? Some say that the sweet potato is a super vegetable, but I have never seen it in a costume :-P

Also, I notice you aren't recording what you drink on a regular basis. Or are you drinking water on an infrequent basis?

Anyway, I really like your dedication.

love the feedback... here's the reason why i have it at 2lbs a week..

All my life, i hated the fact that i was fat..I loved myself but hated the weight part so in september i said "f it".. i literally made the decision sunday night and i started on monday... and im loving it so far... i mean this is kind of fun for me... plus i love inputing my food here and seeing how much i have left.

i dont feel like i have less energy... the reality is i feel like i have more energy now than i ever did. So thats why for 3 weeks i feel ok with where its at. Plus, i dont work out because i dont have the time or the area to do it... this weekend is a long weekend for me so i will be planning out my course of action for this. And after that, thats when i was going to make my decision to make the change to 1 1/2lbs a week.

I will do some shopping this week for baby carrots to bring to work for a snack rather than just apples and bananas... maybe i will add some hummus. I bought 8th continent soy light choco milk and will have that at night as a snack.

but honestly, i love the feedback and really appreciate it... these forums have been helpful big time...
