October Shredders!!! 2nd Mini Challenge (closed group)

Goooooooood Morning October Shredders!!!!

So day 2 of our mini challenges! (please dont hate me!)

As some of you may know, my abs split during pregnancy, and though i had managed to close the gap quite a lot, my recent bout of sit ups and crunches were making the gap much larger. So i am now doing planks to replace all of Jillians ab work. I started yesterday and already my gap is now the smallest it has ever been! These exercises are great for both men and women. They are most affective the longer you do it for, rather than doing several per minute.

So onto the Plank Challenge!! Here is how to do a basic plank: Start in a push-up position, 'real' not modified) but keep your hands directly under your shoulders instead of outside your chest. Legs are extended straight behind you, with feet together. Drop down onto your forearms (You are balancing on your forearms and the balls of your feet) and Hold this position for as long as you can!

The challenge is quite simply, who can hold the position the longest!

A few things to remember: keep your eyes focussed on the ground infront of you, and make sure your bum is not up in the air. Shaking is good, it means it's working!!

You can have as many try's as you like!

And we can record our times in the database. Just delete and re-enter with each go you have.

If you are finding this position too easy, let me know and I will give you the intermediate position!

    I HATE PLANKS !!! I shake like frigging Jello in an Earthquake - and almost DIE cuz I can barely keep my hanging belly not to touch the floor......

    You can all do it :) although I'm really struggling with it today and can't get passed 15 secs!!! Stupid challenge ;-)

    Ps Danielle, yeah I shake so hard too!! And punch the floor in an attempt to keep me there longer!! Which doesn't work!!

    Ok I will try this today!!! So where do i input it? So instead of doing the min of Jillians abs we do planks!!?? And it helps with split abs!!??? Girl I have 2 children and if that helps then I am so in!

    Plank position held for 00:00:36:40 according to my stop watch as I collaposed to the ground.

    Ummmmm OUCH!!! OK now the girls and I are competing.. I am how many years old then these kids? LOL

    Well back to competing.. I got a whole 27 second... I am going to work on that. That was my highest so far.

    Wow everyone well done! These are not easy and all your times are fantastic!! you've all given those transverse abs a great workout! I find these are working my abs so much quicker than Jillians crunches and sit ups. Although yesterday I was totally rubbish at them! So hoping today is better! Apparently even just doing one long one of these a day is a great workout!

    66 secs woo! I know I'm quite good at these cos I used to have to hold for 30 secs as part of my Davina workout DVD, so am kinda used to them :) I should do them more often - thanks for the reminder!

    I sucked at this... No wonder I have such a big pouch, my core is so weak.. A whopping 17seconds:sad: :sad:

    That's still great mimi! These are not easy! But like all exercise, practice makes you stronger and better. I managed 24 seconds yesterday so I too need to practice!

    Thanks love :) this is a personal goal. Must plank every day before 30DS to get better :)

    i'm not entirely sure im doing these right because i managed 36 secs! ive a funny feeling im not! Ive never done them before so may need to look at the dvd. Will repost with more accurate figures when figure it out (i was shaking though!!)
