TRANS FAT...EWWWW.

Just so you all know...food manufactures can sneak up to half a gram of TRANS FAT into all of their prodcuts without putting it in the nutrition information on the label. (Even those ever-so-popular 100 calorie packs!)
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS check the ingredients for any kind of HYDROGENATED OILS...they're TRANS FAT...and they're in almost every snack food I can think of because it increases shelf life.
Steer clear of this stuff...it's awful:
...trans fat is a big baddie in health and diet...it's a fat that's been chemically manipulated to allow it to stay solid at a greater range of temperatures...it'll keep a twinkie "in shape" in 100 degree weather if you know what I mean. Soooo, since it's solid at a greater range of temps...it's more likely to stay a solid in your body at a cozy 98.6...it's absorbed in the digestive tract...but it appears that it's not ever excreted by the body.
So the trans fat from that twinkie you ate in the 8th grade...still chillin' out in your body.

Ok, so my question is...are there any yummy 100 snacks that don't contain transfat?
Does anyone know about slim fast optima bars or Fiber One bars?
Is it best to stick to kashi bars
Any thoughts?

South Beach Living snack bar delight has 100 cals and no trans fats. Chocolate Raspberry or Chocolate Mint. Very tasty.
My family has been trans-fat free for more than a year now. We also do not eat anything with high fructose corn syrup which is very bad also. It is very difficult to find products without either one in them. So, I am usually in the natural food section at the grocery stores or Whole Foods. Many people complain that it is so expensive. But, aren't we worth it?? Plus, we don't eat any fast food anymore so we're saving money there...0 -
Starting in 2006 the FDA required all food companies to list Trans fat on their nutritional lable. Some are already posting it. But they gave them a timeline and it hasn't passed yet. Soon enough all foods must list them. In the mean time follow this article's advice. run from trans fat when at all possible.0

Do you all have MiMi's Cafe-they are no longer using trans fats.
It is very important to read the WHOLE lable. It is amazing was the FDA allows. I am glad to see that some changes are being made.0 -

Yes...it's required...but the new guideline gives them up to 1/2 a gram per serving...to NOT list!0 -
