I'm a member at a climbing gym and I've been wanting to try it. I found a climbing partner yesterday and I'm going to take the intro class today. I was wondering if there were any climbers in our MFP virtual space that would like to share their experiences with climbing and their feelings about it. I'm looking forward to it cuz I hear it's a really good workout.

Ive done bouldering, it is such a great workout! The amount of upper body strength you need is just silly! I totally recommend it.. I love going to a climbing gym, since bouldering consists of no lines or tethers, you just fall back onto a huge fluffy mat!

Yup. I do quite a bit of mountaineering, which includes climbing.

It is a ton of fun. Full body workout. Pay attention to the safety guidelines and take care of your equipment.

    Enjoy.

Me! I love to climb. I climb indoors at a local climbing gym, I boulder indoors and outdoors and I rock climb outside in the mountains as well. It's an amazing workout and I love the challenge, both physical and mental. :)

Sadly, my main climbing partner was my boyfriend and we just broke up, so I'm struggling to find a new partner, that and winter is coming, so outdoor climbing is out for a few months.

Yup, I've been climbing off and on for 15 years, mostly leading outdoors and some bouldering. It is a great workout but there is a lot of down time unless you are mountaineering.

Climbing's great exercise! I knew a pretty good climber a few years ago and he looked like an inverted triangle from the front - excellent muscle development. I'd do it myself but I'm, er, afraid of heights..... If I get any higher than a pull-up bar I start getting vertigo. ;)
