Anybody have advice on getting certified to be a personal trainer through ACE? Anybody that's done it?

I got certified through BCRPA, but we used the ACE textbook. The easiest (and what gave the most points) was the very basic program creation part. You get a very average person and have to make a work out plan for them. A lot of the other stuff I found was very nit pickey, and asked a lot of "All these answers are right.. but which is the MOST RIGHT" kinds of questions.

I am going to track your thread to see what others have to say. I do know they have been real supportive in providing information and I have called a couple gyms that do recognize their certification

I just want to know investing my money will help me find a job doing something I love. I thought about getting Zumba certified as well, but I think Id rather do this...

I'm very seriously considering PT certification also. I just don't know which program to choose or what the benefits of one over the other may or may not be. I have an in-real-life friend who is a PT and I have been picking her brain...she and I need to sit down and chat. I just love the gym, I love the changes I have made in my life...I think about this all the time and it's truly become my passion! I just want to share it with everyone. :)

Me too. Only problem is for me right now is coming up with the money. I don't have a job, which is why I am thinking about doing it in the first place. haha Let me know what your friend says. And what you decide to do!!

I'm really glad you asked this because I've been wondering how to go about becoming a personal trainer and this made me start googling. Good luck!

I too would love to know the best route for this, so many options online not sure what is legit. I also wonder if a lot of evenings are required becasuse that is usually when people are free to train? I suppose early mornings as well.

I've been thinking about getting certified too... From asking around, ACE and NASM are the two most recognized certifications... My local community college teaches an ACE prep program - I missed fall registration, but will sign up in January. It's a full semester course (3 months-ish?) and you have both classroom and gym time. That's the route I'm going to take - I'll have a live person teaching/training me... Also, look into your local gym - see what certifications they accept. That may help you decide... Keep us in the loop though!
