Agree. One day at a time. And don't think of this as a diet. It's a change in your life. Don't set false deadlines. Just one day at a time.0

Do you like dill pickles? During my first month of the lifestyle change, I found by accident that one pickle will curb your appetite for about an hour. And sometimes, we just need that 15 minutes!
Another way I'm heard is eating 6 times a day instead of 3. Vary the types of foods you eat in those meals will help too. I learned not to eat "breakfast" until 9:30 in the morning and I can make it through to noon, and maybe a pickle when I get home at 5 until dinner around 6. I'm in the three meals a day plan, but I'm thinking about changing to 6 because it's going to be winter here, and that cool air makes me want to drink hot chocolate all day long.
I'm shopping for a Light Hot chocolate or maybe a dark hot chocolate....
Keep up the good work!0 -
I started by just limiting calories to 1600 per day as my doctor suggested. I could eat anything I wanted, as long as I didn't go over. This site is fantastic for keeping track! Also, I ride stationary bike for at least 20-30 minutes, three days a week, and do some light strength training and swimming afterward (followed by the hot tub which is wonderful!). I recommend adding friends who will help encourage you along the way. I hit a plateau last week, so I started doing lo carb then and the weight started moving again. Best of luck to you and feel free to friend me.0

Congratulations on your 6 lbs! Before I started this journey, I had read some info on carbohydrates and discovered for myself that whole grains really don't create cravings. One night I went to a restaurant and had a large breadstick and pizza (made with regular white flour). Before the night was over, I was eating ice cream but wasn't even hungry! THAT's when I understood that things like regular pasta and white bread created the cravings for sweets. That's not to say that I have cut them out of my diet completely but being aware of it helped. Hope it helps you. Feel free to add me as a friend.
Good luck on your journey. MFP is a great place to be!0 -
Stay within your calories, and make little changes at a time ti keep yourself from getting overwhelmed.
Like, my first week, I just cut out regular pop. Then I stayed in calories, then I added water... And did little changes a week, or sometimes every other week at a time, I started at 299, so I also have a long road.
People will tell you conflicting things... Take their advice and find what works for you!0 -
I started here Sept 13 at 306 lbs. Today I am 18 lbs thinner. I have learned water is my friend! Also learning how to switch out high calorie foods for ones less calories. (for example I use egg whites instead of whole egg) I do not drink many of my calories. I find Fiber and Protein to be more filling. You can look at my food diary if you wish and you may add me if you wish!
Good luck to you!!!0 -
Its hard to kick cravings. I still crave chocolate all of the time but I keep low fat chocolate around and if the craving just won't go away, I eat it and don't feel guilty. Find healthier options of your favorite foods so that you won't feel like you are missing something. I was close to your beginning weight this time last year so I understand what you are going through. Just don't give up.0

One day at a time. Track what you eat now and just cut back or substitute with lower calorie alternatives. Then every week start to reduce it by 100 calories per day. Drink more water - say 10+ eight oz per day. Sleep early, sleep more. Don't starve. Avoid the super rich foods that taste good but are too high in calories. Avoid the pure sugar or easy to convert (to sugar) carbs. Before every meal or snack, drink a glass or two of water and wait 20 minutes before eating. Stay focussed on the day. We all wish it could be done overnight (oh I wish i could drop 10 pounds this week) but that approach will just fool you. If you want to eat a little more than what is prescribed, exercise a little more (and feel free to eat the calories burned). In a year or two, you will reach the goal so that you can maintain it for another year. Every 10-15 pounds is progress but it will take a month or two to reach. It will happen if you stick with a realistic program. Delaying it will just make you live another day with the problem. Starting today and maintaining will enable you to reach your goal. Good luck.0

If you like yogurt, low fat, or even the regular ones, the custard styles are delish and thick and rich, add, to them chia seeds, and flax seed (ground or whole) like 3/4 of a teaspoon of each seed to a 6 to 8 oz cup. I have found and have experienced and heard from others that the chia seeds especially curb appetite. Also, drinking 2 cups of water, flavored or not, sometime during the morning (2 cups), afternoon (2 more) and evening (2 more again) at least helps too. I usually buy the Walmart kinds, raspberry and vanilla and key lime are my favorites. The ground flax seed is SOO good in the yogurts especially vanilla. Good luck!!! OH also, lean proteins like eggs with turkey sausage in the mornings and chicken and wheat egg noodles with minimal olive oil.0
