vegetarian needs help

Hi all,

My question today is: how to get enough proteins without eating meat? I'm a vegetarian (I do eat dairy), and I'm trying to eat plenty of eggs, cheese, yogurt and pulses, but some days that isn't enough. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

    TVP could help (Textured Vegetable Protein)

    They sell it in bags.. It would provide a good boost.

    egg whites, tempeh, ground "meat", eggs, greek yogurt, cottage cheese. You can use protein powders too.

    I used to have the same problem. Now I make make a fruit smoothie every morning after my workout and put a hefty scoop of protein powder in it. I mean, it tastes like chocolate so I'd say it's a good option. :)

    tofu, tempeh, beans ( I like black beans, cranberry beans (which I add to salads) and there a many others to choose from, Peanut butter or other nut butters....

    I get most of my protein from eggs, beans, vegetables and every now and then, fake meat. I love the soy, but it can wreak havoc on my digestive track and a lot of it is soooo overly processed.

    Feel free to add me as a friend and check out my diary for the past month or so to get an idea. (I love variety, but I tend to make stuff in bulk so you will notice I eat the same stuff for a week or so)

    i think we need less protein than is the general consensus, but that's just me. i really like unsweetened rice or hemp protein powder. one smoothie a day will ALWAYS send you over your protein requirements, if you're eating well the rest of the day. one banana, one cup milk (or soymilk), one scoop protein powder, and you're good to go. :)

    I have to agree with you here (This is becoming a strange pattern I've noticed) Sometimes I meet MFP protein but usually I come decently under. I feel pretty great and was even exercising every day.

    Yeah I'm not a believer of needing as much protein as is often suggested, obviously you do need SOME though! Good sources are nuts, pulses, beans and tofu. http://www.theproteinmyth.com/ if you're interested : ) xx

    For protein I eat: tofu, beans, lentils, eggs, nuts, seeds, pretend meats :)
