avacados are love
let it get a bit soft
slice it in half
peel the barky stuff
you can eat a slice by itself
or put chunks in a salad
or mash it with love and add lemon juice, tomato, cilantro for a salsa
tons of uses....plain is fine and so good for you

I LOVE avacados! I like to have a piece of toast, poached egg, tomatoe slice and half of an avacado all stacked together. It's sooo good.
I also put mine in wraps or make guacamole.0 -
I like a few slices on a sandwich with cheese and tomato. Mmmmmnnnnnn.....0

You can toss avacados on almost anything. Their falvor isn't so strong that it competes much.
I use em on hamburgers, chicken, salads, sandwiches, wraps, etc.
I do have an Avacado icecream or smoothie recipe if you are feeling REALLY daring.
Dave, isn't that called guacamole...
***Edit: OHOH! You're right... there is such a thing as "Avacado Salsa" different ingredients.... but still...0 -

A man that has a way with words.
I want an avacado now!0 -
I can never find ripe avocados in the store. So, to speed up the ripening process, store them in a brown paper bag on your counter top. They should really be tender to the touch, not firm, for the best taste.
For quick and easy guacamole, just mix in 2-4 tbsp of fresh store-bought salsa with a mashed ripe avocado. I like to spread it on top of quesadillas when I need more calories.0 -
Ever try a B.L.A..T??? Basically it's a BLT with the addition of avacado slices.
*** OH! To prevent browning (from oxidation) dip slices into lemon or lime juice. The citric acid slows that affect. When you are doing guacamole/salsa add a little juice to the mixture, same deal.0 -
Avocados are awesome and can be used in soooo many ways -- I grew up eating them thanks to a neighbor with a huge tree!
So at breakfast -- they are great sliced on top of an omelet (suggestions: veggie omelet, bacon & tomato omelet, southwest omelet w/ salsa). Actually my favorite omelet is the Guacamole Omelet served at the Harbor House Cafe in Sunset Beach, CA (if you ever get out that way) !!!!
At Lunch -- in chunks on a salad (but I think salads are boring & not very filling), eat a chicken breast and 1/2 avocado (which tastes very good together), and I'm a little weird but I usually eat a can of tuna and 1/2-whole (depending on the size) avocado.
At dinner -- You can always serve avocados with chicken breasts, whether sliced on top or on the side, they just go together. Depending on what kind of diet you are on, something that my family enjoys is a little bit of marinara topped with a chicken breast that has melted mozzarella cheese on top, and a few slices of avocado on top of that -- you can serve with a slice of whole wheat bread and you have a great well-balanced meal.
Snacks -- Guacamole!!!!! Just mush up the avocado(s), add some lemon juice, tomatos, green onions, a little salt, pepper, and chili powder -- then eat with veggies
Note: If you don't eat all of the guacamole at one sitting, make sure you store it in the fridge with the seed in the guacamole -- it keeps it fresher. But just remember that it is normal for there to be a change in color (a little black around the edges and on top) when you go to eat it the next day. Just stir it up and you're ready to eat!0 -
Don't feel bad about never eating an avocado. I live in montana and had never had one until my mother in law came to help me after surgery. She was doing everything and I wanted to help she handed me an avodado and told me to peel it. I had to admit I didn't know what to do with it she still laughs 3 years later.:blushing:0

I also love advacados. But the trouble I've been having is the fat in them. I know it's good fat but if I'm watching my fat intake don't I also have to include it??? That's where most of my daily fat comes from. I usually eat half of one on my salad every day!0

yes...too much is too much but the fat from avacado is the best kind
and it is good for your skin...so its one of those double good thangs:happy:0 -
I My love avocados.
I mash them in a bowl with salt, pepper and a little salsa and eat them open faced on toast.
I also love to mix avocado with tuna instead of mayonaise.
Sliced in a salad.
My wife slices them and eats them with her eggs.
Yum!!!!0 -
my mother has always said that she wants her last meal to be an avacodo sandwhich on wheat bread with mayo, salt and pepper. i skip the mayo, but not the love.
all the women in my family are big fans AND if you (sadly) don't get to yours before it goes a little too soft - you can always make a natural body scrub out of it with some oatmeal or coffe grinds. i'm serious. it rocks.

I love avocados.
I slice them up and put them on a plate, then drizzle a tiny bit of olive oil and balsamico vinegar on them. yum0
