I'm doing the 'Couch to 5k' at the moment and when I complete that and have significantly less weight, I will try insanity. It seems very... hardcore! Especially for me, I've never done any exercise in my life :P0

I started Insanity around 190 and lost 8 lbs the first month. I had to make adjustments on some of the exercises and take lots of breaks, but it has made me feel awesome. I just started month 1 again (today actually!) so that I can push harder to do the exercises better.
I should say that I also try to get to the gym for about an hour a day and I have been watching what I eat pretty well. You're welcome to add me if you want.
I want to try Jillian's workouts too. I was just saying how I wanted to start them and do insanity and go to the gym... but I think I'll be too tired to do everything lol. All in due time I guess!0 -
Hi,
fitness and exercising contribute little directly to weight loss. You do them to get healthier overall, to improve your posture, agility, strength and endurance. To lose body fat, it's important to monitor what you eat.
It is easy to see why. To lose one pound of body fat, you need to consume 3500 calories less than you burn. Say you spread that over a week (recommended), then that equals 500 calories a day.
Burning 500 calories through excercising will take your 1-2 hours, every single day, for months.
Gaining 500 calories through eating is one chocolate pudding and a cup of soda. It's just much easier to not do that than to keep up a quite time consuming and laborous exercise regime.0 -
I've done Insanity twice and had great results both times! I'd say I lost around 20lbs my first time and around 15lbs the second. (my diet wasn't the best 2nd time around being summer time and all) The best part was my energy went through the roof.0

Yes I am consuming 1200 cals a day with low gi foods n not taking processes food
I love doing exercise n push myself to the limits
That's why I want to know if doing insanity help me shift these lbs ?
I hav never in my life lost weight on diet alone, it has to be with exercise otherwise I don't see definition on my body, thts the experience whn I was on my ideal weight after losing sooo much before giving birth my babies0 -
I am not saying you should not do exercises, doing exercises to get definition is an excellent reason! But I don't think you need to do two ambitious exercise routines every day to get in shape. Your body needs rest, too. And if you keep good form, even a superficially less ambitious program can challenge you a great deal and work you out.
So, let's do the math. If you consume 1200 calories and exercise 90 minutes with low impact aerobic (burning 600 calories), then you have 600 net calories remaining to fuel your vital organs and all the other activities in your life.
That is very little. I am by no means an expert, but it seems you would take a significant risk, weakening yourself and your immune system. So, you would have to eat more to compensate your exercises. But if you have to eat more for the exercises you are doing, you could just as well not eat more and do a less ambitious exercise program, say only 45 minutes a day (burning 300 calories). The weight loss would be the same.
What I am saying here is: Exercise in moderation while trying to lose weight. Then, when you are at the weight you want to manage, increase your exercise program to build up strength or improve your fitness. At that time, you will have to eat more to compensate.
Trying to balance your diet while you are losing weight and increase your fitness program seems to be difficult to me, because the two activities ask for opposite actions with regards to your diet.
If you want to do it anyway, I suggest you do it gradually, so you can get some feedback from your body how it feels, and can adjust the amount of food you eat better.0
