when you gain weight do update it or do you leave it until you lose again ,,,
I'm pretty sure ive gained in the last couple of weeks a comination of not using mfp to count food, being sick, not excersing, TTOM, and bad food choices will probably garuntee it but im not sure if i should update my weight on here or wether to just leave it until i start loseing again and just update it when i get to under what it currently is
what would you do?

I usually don't put in if I gained. Keeping it at what I was makes me more motivated to lose that extra pound or two and more so that when I do post it will be lower. You just have to figure out what works for you.0

Hey :-) yep. i weigh in every friday morning. Logging it in keeps you accountable. Plus, i keep a chart on my profile with my weigh in days that way i can see my weight fluctuate over time lol i'll befriend you and you can see :-)0

I always include weight gains. I think it's important to accurately track your weight loss which includes any weight gain.0

^^^ Same here. I update once a week, always Monday morning, up or down.0

For me, I update it.
This whole journey for me about about being real with myself, and not giving myself excuses anymore?
Ask youself why you wouldn't post it... If it's half a pound or so, then I might wait a day or two, weigh again and then record the weight. Logging it just helps keep an accurate track of your journey so you can go back and look at what happened.0 -
I don't usually record it when I gain weight cuz I know it is probably muscle or water gain...updating weight gain will only make me depress.0

I certainly do. I find it better to log it whether you gain or lose. I mean, you have to be real with yourself and keep your journal accurate. Then if you lose the next week it is an even bigger loss.0

I dont mind seeing the gain or anything its just i figure i will prob be able to lose it by next week it should fingers crossed be just a small amount
so not sure if i should add it ,,, but i think it would be good to see on the charts and things when i have gained to give me some insite
stupidly i havent actually given myself a regular weigh day i generally just put what ever the lowest weight of the week was i think im going to have to pick myself a day and make this a bit more structured thanks guys0 -
I weigh myself almost everyday (cue *gasp of scandal) but my "official" weigh-in day is Friday morning. i do not obsess over it but I find it interesting and usually a positive experience. Anyway... I will enter my loses because they make me feel good. I will record gains if it is my "official" weigh-in day.
It works for me!!:blushing:0 -
I wasn't planning on it but then I didn't lose it for the longest time (still haven't) so I eventually did update my weight.0

I weigh every day, so I do see fluctuations sometimes. If I see a gain, I give myself 3-4 days to get it to drop back down, but if it doesn't come back down then yeah, I would log it. In some ways, it's a psychological game we play with ourselves, to stay motivated and yet to not kid ourselves. I think if I had really screwed up and had cheated on the calories significantly and THEN I saw a gain, I would be more likely to log it.0

yeah, i weigh myself every morning (out of habit)...but i only record it on friday mornings. It's important to weigh yourself at the same time, on the same day every week so you can get an accurate reading of your week's progress.....so i do it every friday morning...right when i wake up, before i eat, and after i tink tink :-) lol0 -
Hi woo!
I do update when I gain, because it is just a real life part of this journey for me. And it stinks sometimes. Stinks!
But you are great and you are totally going to kick this!!0 -
Not usually. I weigh every day and don't have a set day to add my weight to the site (yet, thinking I'll start giving a weekly weigh here though). Because of that, I don't add my weight daily up or down because fluctuations can change it quite a lot. If I ate badly the night before I'd feel silly adding a pound to my weight only to take it right back down the next day, so if I know it's a fluctuation I won't change anything. However, if it's steadily up more than I few days I will log it, only after I'm sure it's not retaining water or extra food in my belly.0

I update my gains (had a few too many to ignore this month :blushing: ) but then I change the settings so that when I lose weight that I've gained it doesn't come up on my news feed until I've lost what I've gained (don't know if that is a good or bad thing)0

I don't bother, It is only usually a pound or two and I don't want to start getting all OCD about losing this weight loss. I only record my weight about every 2 weeks anyway. By then, I have defo lost. x0
-
I do, because that's what the numbers are. Besides, we're gaining muscle mass too0
-
I would definitely log any gain! I know if I saw a gain I would be even more determined to shed it. By not logging it you are denying that you put it on x0
