Dieting while breastfeeding

Any ideas of the best way to diet while breastfeeding? I am already low on my milk supply so I don't want to lose any milk but I have about 25 pounds to lose. Is there anything on this site regarding breastfeeding?

How old is your baby?
My recommendation is that you focus on breastfeeding and ignore the extra weight right now. Many mothers naturally lose weight during the breastfeeding phase due to the extra calories that maintaining a milk supply demands. Cutting back too much on calories right now will surely cut back and/or stop milk production.0 -
Add 200-300 calories to whatever MFP says you should have a day. And go for a slower weight loss goal of like 1/2 lb per week. I'm breastfeeding my 6 month old. My supply has never been overly abundant so I too was a little worried, but I've been doing this for about a month and a half and we are still going strong with the nursing- and I've lost 5 pounds! Just make sure you drink lots of water...and be prepared for those pesky hormones to kick in and mess things up. It isn't easy but it is doable and worth it!1

I am also breastfeeding an 8 month old. I have lost 50lbs and have had no issues with my supply. I take my prenatals, and fenugreek to help and I never go hungry. I always eat when Im hungry and you can also add in your breastfeeding where you add the calories. Just look it up and youll be able to add them in too.0

I could not diet while breastfeeding, it would wreck my milk supply. Hard as it was, I waited until I was done. Weight did come off slowly by itself...0

All I will say is everyone is different. If you really want to keep breastfeeding, do not even think about diet. If you have a low supply do not diet. Some women do not lose baby weight until after they wean the baby. That was the case with me. I breastfed both my kids and held on to the weight the entire time. Once I weaned, the weight just came off.0

I just finished breastfeeding my baby a few months ago. I didn't diet but I did work out a bit. I lost the weight fast while nursing but now I gained some of the weight back. I would say drink a lot of water and just eat healthy and go for walks with baby or baby-mommy exercise classes. Get into a good routine and KEEP IT UP after you are done nursing!!! I made the mistake0

Thanks so much ladies! My baby is 3.5 months old so I know that I have a ways to go but I refuse to buy new clothes. I know that my baby is more important than losing weight but I just feel yucky when I look in the mirror. I saw something on the feed about fenugree tea. Does that really work? Where can I find it? Thanks so much for all of the help!0
