If you are not into hunting, please click your "Back" button so we don't turn this into a flippin 'animal rights' debate.
How long have you been hunting/ fishing? What is your game (bird, small, big, fish, other)? What is your weapon of choice?
Me: Been shooting a bow since 5, starting hunting big game at 14 (legal age), but don't get to go every year. I miss being in the woods.
How about you?

Already been in a tree a few times this year, too frickin' hot, no movement at all. I have a lease in BIG whitetail country. Beyond that, just got back from a successful elk hunt in Utah, and since there aren't any natural birds around here anymore, we go to a game farm every few weeks - chukar and ringnecks over Viszlas. Always Spring turkey hunt. Saturday morning I'll set out the dec's and ground blind for goose... I bow hunt my deer (sneak late muzzle loader in as well), rifle my elk, 12 ga for my geese, 20 ga o/u for my birds, bow and 12 ga for my turkey. Don't get me talking about walleye fishing...0

i dont hunt (not allowed to own weapons anymore but i love being in the woods. i like to go out fishing when i can- mostly off shore salt water- not to catch anything specific just for the fun of it. moved to the city of houston a year ago and i can say id rather be back in the country again.0

Right here!!! I deer hunt with my husband a lot in the winter but he isn't here right now and I have work so I don't know how much I will get to do this year. Deer hunting what I do the most. I fish too but it's not my favorite. I started hunting a few years ago with my husband but come from a family that lives on venison so I have always been around a lot of hunting.
BTW venison is sooo good and lean too!!!0 -
Just filled a muzzleloader Buck tag in Southern Oregon! Don't hunt every year but love to beat the brush and push for others when I can! I love my 30-06!!!0

My family is a bunch of Bow Hunters in Idaho!! LOVE IT!!0

Avid outdoorsman here. Fish for mostly trout & smallmouths.
Hunt mostly whitetails & mostly with my bow. Enjoy using the handgun also. Will sneak in an occasional small game outing and enjoy chasing spring gobblers. Did a few archery elk trips, still yet to tag one though.
Been at this game 25 years (makes me feel old)
One doe in the freezer already, hopefully several more to come.
**Cool to see 4 of the 1st 6 replies by females.0 -
Where I"m originally from (WI), I use to hunt whitetails and grouse. I really enjoyed fishing and ice fishing out the on the lakes. I miss the taste of walleye! I plan on fishing on the wetland areas in VA where I now reside. Hope to get up to Canada someday and use my open face baitcaster.0

Born and raised. Although over the past few years work has not allowed for hunting trips. I am a waterfowler, archery woman, and deer hunter. I enjoy fishing as well. On top of that I just love being outdoors.0

Glad to see bow hunters on here. I have a lot of respect for good bow hunters, but I hate seeing people hunting with bows just because they think it's cool but don't really know what they're doing. It really pisses me off to see deer who have taken a shot from a bow that wasn't fatal.0

My hunter is level 85.
My fishing is at 425.0 -
I like fishing. Used to go to the Texas coast (Port Aransas) a couple times a year and catch red fish and trout off the banks or in a kayak.0

I was raised in a hunting and fishing family, but don't participate myself. As Ron White says, "it's really early in the morning, it's really cold, and I just don't want to go." That... and we have too many hunters on our land as it is.
I live in white tail territory... it's not at all unusual for me to see deer along my trail walks/runs, or in my front yard when I come home from work. Did I mention I live in town?
I shoot archery for target/sport, but not for the hunt. I do like fishing, but haven't been in years. When I have time, I don't want to mess with cleaning them, so I'll just go sit with a bare hook in the water and veg out.0 -
I love to go salmon fishing... never hunted but wouldn't be adverse to going sometime. I have many friends who I work with who are bow hunters. It is a big thing here in N CA.0

I'm not huge into fishing but my wife loves it so we take the canoe out a lot and fish.0

My personal hunting ended when I finally had a doe in my sights and couldn't pull the trigger - almost twenty years ago. But slap that bugger already dead on my kitchen table and I can butcher it for you without blinking.
That said, my husband and son spent a week in the bush in September and brought home a moose with a 51" rack. They both use 30-06. It took us four days to butcher two moose (hubby's boss brought one home, too) and we have over 500 lbs of meat for winter.
I do like to fish - for trout and salmon.
Edit: "Rack?" Is that right? I don't think it is. But I grew up in whitetail country, so that's what I'm calling it.0 -
Grew up near the Gulf Coast (Galveston). Always go down there to fish the surf and the bays for reds or specks. A few years ago I was doing some kayak fishing too. I try to get out there at least 1/month but doesn't always happen.
I bought a .270 a few years ago in hopes of hunting feral hogs but never could find time to get out there and do it.0 -
I got my Hunter rain boots and fisherman sweater last week. Love them LOL0

I'm in northwest Montana.
I grew up hunting, deer and elk mostly. I still hunt annually, some years more diligently than others. Depends on how empty the freezer is and what else I have going on.
I have 2 bows, a Recurve and an Oneida Strike Eagle. I have a Savage model 99 .243, a Thompson Center Encore 7mm-08, and a Weatherby Mark V .300 Wby Mag. I also have a Taurus .22 pump action, which is a replica of the Winchester 62 shooting gallery gun. And I have a Dan Wesson .357 Mag with interchangeable barrels.0 -
I love to fish. Saltwater only, though. Florida's fresh water isn't the freshest. I'm a fan of Ugly Stick fishing rods. I *wish* I could keep eat the snook I catch, but the window of snook you're allowed to keep is woefully small, if you can even keep them at all anymore.0

i go spear fishing and shorline fishing with my dad from time to time. we mostly dive though.0

My husband has been putting me in to all sorts of hunts. Haven't drawn any though. Probably a good thing, as the only way I can hit a target is if I have a laser site. Don't even ask me about hunter's safety. LOL
I LOVE to fish. Would really like to catch a tiger musky. (sp?)
My husband is the hunter. He just got back from a special elk hunt. He got a 6 point. Rated at around 320. He was kinda bummed he didn't get bigger. I was impressed because it was with a bow.0 -
Ive been hunting since I was 11yo. My Dad had me by his side whitetail deer hunting. I was in one of those 70's snowmobile suits that "swish" with every small movement. So you can imagine how many deer we saw that day. hehe
Ive been fishing long before I started hunting. My parents treated me the same as if I was a boy (another words, there was no getting out of hard work because I was a girl) and expected me to do the work of one on our farm.
My first rifle was a .243 and my current one is my mother's .270. It's a leftie. Because of my five kids, I haven't really had a chance to do much hunting in the past 12 years. So it is with great joy that I got my deer license this year and will be hunting with my sisters and brother this December.0
