So today one of my MFP friends mentioned she was cleaning her floors, and it reminded me that I'm an absolute neat freak and LOVE clean carpets. My vacuum I have at the moment is trash, absolute garbage, I refuse to even mention it *cough Eureka cough* and so I'm coming here to ask you guys what vacuum in the $150-300 range has lasted you the longest and given you the best cleaning job, PS We have 3 cats so I vacuum everyday because of this any tips/help would be great. :D

I love Dyson. I bought mine at walmart on sale so I got a 500-600 vacuum for 300. I would check around online to see if you can get one at a lower price - but they are fantastic. I also managed a vac shop (lame I know) so I learned alot about different kinds. Dyson is great.

definitely a dyson if you can get it on sale - otherwise, I also have a roomba and love it for pet hair every day!

I absolutely LOVE my Dyson. Granted, it's more than 300 bucks (they do have cheaper models than mine). I've had it five years, though, and I kid you NOT that it picks up just as well today as it did the day I got it!

I own a Riccar (American made) - and I love, love, LOVE my Riccar. The place I got my vaccuum from I get free maintenance, free loaner vac and free use of their shampoo machine (I just have to buy the chemicals). It also has a 3 year warranty.

I love my Dyson too :)

My friend bought hers from best buy- it was the floor model so she got it 75% off... A lot of stores will do that.

I have a Bissell Healthy Home. I got it a few years ago. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I do want a Dyson or an Oreck. But I am also not wanting to spend a fortune on a vacuum.

Dyson!!! I love mine! I got mine at Best Buy. They price match!!! It was a little over $300. I got the Dyson DC 17 Animal. It is about 3 or 4 years old now. I tried Dirt Devil & Eureka and they SUCKED and not in a good way. I am poor so it was a hard decision to spend so much on a vacuum. I feel I have saved money because I am not spending $100 a year replacing vacuum after vacuum.

I have an Orek, love it! It's light weight, the bags are easy to change. We also have the canister vacuum that has a pet hair attachment tool which is amazing! We have two dogs who love to lay on our couches and the pet hair tool removes the hair very easily.

I really like my Bissel Pet Hair Eraser. I have seven cats and a Pekingese who doesn't get clipped.... there's a lot of fur to deal with here!

I used a Dyson when I worked at the vets, and honestly, I think mine does just as good of a job, for a fraction of the price. But to be fair, the Dyson at work was a hand-me-down from the vet's home when they got a new one, so it wasn't top of the line.

We bought a new Eureka Boss 4D Pet Fresh vacuum about 6 months ago. Bagless, with two filters, pet attatchement, and dusting wand. We have two cats, thing works great. I think we paid about $80 for it on sale.

At one point, I'd refused to get on the Dyson bandwagon.

    Then, my vacuum died.

I bought a Dyson from Costco, kept the receipt KNOWING I was going to return it, and then would finally be able to say, "Yes. I tried Dyson. Not worth the money, imo, and I returned mine."

That was 8 months ago, I LOVE my Dyson and my only regret is not attempting to prove the naysayers wrong before.

oddly being as it' s British, like me, I think Dyson is over priced and over rated

I have a HENRY, and it's utterly fabulous, lots of commercial cleaners use them and they kick *kitten*. MUCH better than Mr James Dysons over priced fancy machine

Not about vacuums - since I generally buy cheap ones and just get a new one every year.

I'm with you there. My Eureka does the same job as my borther's Dyson at 4x the cost.

It's all marketing bull, IMO. Make everything you're doing sound like it's never been done before.

Vacuum your floor with a dyson or a hoover it does not matter, I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference.

I am also in the market for a new vacuum. My friend loaned me her practically new Dyson Animal on the ball...I hate it. I really just don't like the ball. I still like Dyson as a brand. I am thinking about the Dyson Animal NOT on the ball.

My Eureka only lasted a year and a half. It is what I am having to replace now. Sucky thing. I don't even have a lot of carpet. Just the upstairs and my and my daughter's bedrooms.

Yeah I have had my Eureka for just under a year, maybe they change year to year, this one needs the stupid filter emptied constantly and it makes me insane, so I'm not sure which route to go now, but I really to not have to buy one again for 5+ years, decisions... ack.

It's my stomach with my hands forming a heart around the belly button when I was nine months pregnant for my youngest baby.

Thanks for your unsolicited input though.

That's what I was going to guess but then I thought I would make a huge *kitten* out of myself if I was wrong.

    And no,it's not disturbing.

I mean come on. It's pretty freaking obvious that it's my belly button with my hands around it in the shape of a heart. What the he77 else would it be?

Well, I was worried that if I said it was a pregnant belly and it wasn't.......major Faux pas.

IDK, it looked like a belly with some hands around the button to me, not sure what the other poster thought it was.

I didn't mean you. ;) I meant the person that referred to it as "disturbing."
