 I am finally going to get rid of this skin flap! Very excited but also nervious. I have read loads of post but no one really touched on my biggest concern...the belly button! If anyone has had a tt how do you feel about the new belly button scar? Is there anything that would have made your recovery easier? My ps always includes lipo with his tt but I am nervious about all that pain! Any tips stories details I might not be aware of?

I can't wait to finally see the results of all my hard work! but very nervious too...

I had a tummy tuck and breast reduction in October last year. The pain is more muscle pain than incision pain. When you can get to where you can stand up straight, the pain is not so bad. Then every thing else is numb. They leave drains in for a few days. These do not hurt coming out because you are still numb. The belly button is the same looking as the old one, just tighter. I am very happy with my results.

Hi. I had a tummy tuck almost 2 years ago. The recovery was ok. The hardest part for me were the drains and having them removed. My bellybutton was a huge thing to me. I searched and searched for the plastic surgeon that made the best ones! I love my new stomach and would do it again. Be prepared for the worst pain and it won't be that bad. :o) Good luck!! By the way, mine was skin only (from what I hear, when the muscles are involved, the recovery is longer). Hope this helps a little.
  • :drinker: thank you guys for your quick replys! After 4 big babies they are going to have a lot of muscle repair. Really just nervious about the navel. Mine now is kinda triangle shapred (hard to explain) but all the ps I saw said it would be oval afterwards. Can you see the belly button scar?

One question....Can I ask how you guys paid for your surgery? I know that's personal, I'm just trying to get an idea of how it's going to happen with my $1,000 a month student loan bills. Can you make payments on it? I've heard of Alberta Health Care covering the full cost, but I want to go in fully prepared just in case.

Chick- I had a tummy tuck and breast reduction 2 years ago. It was the best thing I've ever done!!!:drinker: I gave it to myself for my 40th birthday! I had an umbilical hernia from my 2 large babies, so my pre-surgery belly button was aweful!!:noway: Now it is small and cute!!! I did not have lipo with my procedure, so I cannot address that added discomfort. Plain and simple, it hurt. I couldn't stand straight for about 3 weeks and spent 2 weeks on the couch. It was worse than either of my c-sections. But-- I WOULD DO IT AGAIN! I a heart beat!!!! I love my flat belly and beautiful, perky breasts!!!!

Good luck!! Make sure to take care of yourself!:flowerforyou:
  • Mine is running $7,400 and I saved about $3,000 of it out of the grocery money lol generic cheese coupons etc. Hubby gives me an allowance based on full price. For the rest I sold my beloved converable. It was just an extra vehicle and all the kids car seats wouldn' t fit in it anyways, but I HATE MY MINI VAN. lol anyways if you are too eager to wait my best freinds bought her boobs on credit. I think the company she used was care credit. They had a special 18 month interest free plan. She got them about 12 weeks ago so they may still be doing it. Good Luck!

I want one! Actually I would probably do a breast lift first, I'm more disturbed with the girls. At one point I would have thought reduction was needed, not so much anymore, just a good lift! If I were getting a tummy tuck, the least of my worries would be a few scars. Stretch marks are gross, what's a tiny scar or two? I love my kids but they destroyed my belly.
  • I actually had a lift over 2 years ago! Huge boost to myself esteem. No more having to wear certain bras with certian tops no more flap jack boobies! My scars were bad at first but very faint and flat now. If I had known baby number 4 was going to come along I would have waited but they held up fantastic. I did them first b/c my tummy is easier to hide. I just have this thin odd flap of gross stretched out skin that hangs off the very bottom. The rest of my tummy is fine as long as I am standing up. lol

I have a hard time justifying spending money on any of it, but I would love it. I try to tell myself I'm getting older and I should be happy with what I have.... I don't believe me.

I already got fixed in preparation of getting a full blown muscle repairing tummy tuck-
I plan on breast lift, tummy tuck, and lipo for contouring but I would like to lose the rest of my weight first before setting up my consult- I want to go in that surgery at my fittest- and come out looking fierce as ever-

Agreed on hitting goal weight first. I am telling myself, goal weight for a year, then I'll start seriously thinking about it. I keep throwing hints in the form of jokes to my hubby about getting it done. I figure it's good to start preparing him now for that hit on the finances.

    HI and Congrats!

I had one almost 2 years ago and it was the best investment I made in myself. $5500 in Ft. Lauderdale. The prices vary by area. www.makemeheal.com... you can read and ask questions and you can see pictures of others Belly buttons as well as the scar.... I was alittle shocked when I first saw mine, but as time progessed it turned out nice.

    Good luck.
  • It is very hard to justify spending the money. It took me forever to save up for my breast seemed like everytime I got a little money stashed away something more important would come up. I felt sooo guilty and then the recovery made me feel even guiltier. I stayed with my parents the first week so I wouldn't be tempted to pick up the kids. I had nightmares about someone else feeding my babies. lol Anyhow. once I was all healed it was worth it. Odd how much more active we became as a family. My confidence was back. I can throw on any old top bra or no bra and look great. Getting dressed used to be more like engeniring, very depressing. Now it isn't anything at all. Even my husband says it was the best money he ever spent, just because I am so much happier and out going now.

I thought abuot getting a lift, but my friend told me that the areola became sooooo sensitive... not the pleasure kind sensitive, but more like, don't touch me, sensitive. I don't want that, but as i get older I'm thinking, hey I have other places I can get pleasure from :embarassed: I'm glad you are enjoying your boobies :)
  • For the first few months mine were numb. Then they were super tender. ouch! but after about a year they normalized. They have less pleasurable sensation than they used to but I am lucky in that area some women lose all feeling permenantly. For me it was worth the risk. I was an A cup prior to having chilcren and a ddd after my milk came in after the milk dried up they was nothing but skin left.
