I am looking for some help/advice over a problem I have every month. This all started a good few years ago but seems to be getting worse. The week before I am due on, I feel horribly ill, like I'm coming down with something really nasty, I get mirgraine headache along side, they're not as bad as they can get but still horrid and make me feel sick. But it's the fact I am totally drained and have no energy that is the worst thing. I've tried all sorts, taking vitamins. acupuncture, reflexology etc. I have been to the Doctors numerous times and they don't know why, all they say is "it's hormonal!" Interestingly, some months are worse than others, sometimes I get it for two days, sometimes 7 days before. I also go from being ravenous to not wanting to eat at all. This is clearly impacting on my gym programme, I tried working through it and that made me worse. I tried just not going when it happens but this knocks me back, and makes me feel rotten. I've set out a deload programme so I can take that week off every month, but it seems ridiculous that I have to do this, I've had my family I don't want any more children (I can't anyway) there must be something they can do surely grrrrr? I feel a bit bad as my periods themselves are fine 2 days no pain at all, it seems I get everything before it even starts. The day I come on I am cured completely.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you deal with it?

Google PMDD. I have this and I handle it by resting as much as possible when I'm feeling blah. The doc also put me on a low dose birth control, Lo Loestrine. It helps balance things out more. Also, google "Foods that help PMDD" and there are certain foods that you can eat around that time to help.0

Also, are you taking any hormonal BC? If not that might help flatten out the hormone surges.0

Sarsaparilla root and flax seed - a couple pills of the root every day, up the dose to three a few days before, and get some flax seed in your diet - it's good on salad or in cereals.
NOTE: This is not the advice of a medical professional. It is simply what has worked for me.0 -
Dear friend,
My sister went to the same thing, a believe it or not contraceptive pills help her a lot to regulate and the sickness. If I were you I check with my OB on that.
Hope you feel better0 -

OMG you star!!!! I have just been looking at all things PMDD I'm sure that is what I have! I get particularly legs and feel generally stiff and achey all over too. And I am irritable, I get soooo cross with the dog for following me round, but she does it all the time and it only annoys me at this time. I feel very low in mood, like I could burst into to tears but generally don't, I feel a feeling of impending doom! I've been like it for 4 days and today I had to drag myself to Uni, and a girl said something a little offish and I've been thinking about it all day, it really bothered me, where usually I wouldn't care. Carrying all my books and bags back to my car nearly made me cry and I do this without thought usually. But the worst the computer I was working on for an hour crashed and lost all my work, it finished me off completely and I had to go home. Although that would be damn annoying anyway but I just couldn't deal with it. I generally shut myself away when I feel like this 'cus it really isn't pretty! I feel fat and unattractive and tired.
Thank you so so much, I am going to book an appointment at the Doctors tomorrow. xx0
