Back Strengthening Exercises

Ok so I have kyphosis curve in the lower part of my cervical spine. It's due to several factors and I'm doing cervical traction to help straighten things out.
My specialist is---rushed? I guess rushed is a good word. In any case, he said "do back strengthening exercises" and that was the end of it. I have no idea what I can be doing to help strengthen my back muscles.
I need suggestions for this and I do not have a home gym or gym membership, so please do not suggest machine work. I have 3lb dumbbells and that's it. I am unemployed so I can't go buy something else to try either.
Advise away!

do you have an android or iphone?
I have an android phone and there is a free app called Daily Yoga for Back Build up. I do that one and the one for abs also that has really helped with my back issues, as I have herniated and degenerated discs in my lumbar and sac rial. Hope that helps.1 -
I ask your specialist for specific exercises that will help your condition. Your doctor may be rushed but they are there for you, don't feel bad about taking up his/her time. It's part of a doctor's job to give all the information necessary. If your specialist can't or won't give you exercises to do get a referral to a physical therapist who will take the necessary time with you.0

This guy knows exactly what he's doing. I've seen him at work and it is amazing. But he has no bed side manner and cannot be held down. And I have defeated other doctors for the same problem, but not him.
Once I get a job I intend to go see a physical therapist, but can't yet.0 -

That sounds cool. I have MFP on my android and I'm addicted to it. I'll find that.
Thanks for the suggestions!0
