edited October 3 in Introduce Yourself
Hello all, I am not exactly new to MFP, but only recently have I had the time to explore the boards. I love love LOVE the information on them! And whats more, is I love the MFP family!! For the most part, everyone is respectful, yet honest, and I love that.
Basically, I am reintroducing myself, because I have recently really buckled down on my diet, and I am also going to start working with a pt to help me achieve my fitness goals. A few things about myself:
1. I seriously have issues with food! I love it, which is good and bad. I didn't grow up in a healthy eating environment ( not an excuse, just fact) so I really need to relearn how to have a healthy relationship with food (my sisters are the same way).
2. I have had dieting issues as well in the past, going from one extreme to another; I am tired of that, and I want to learn how to do it all right, so I don't have to diet ever again, and can have a fullfilling and healthy life!
3. I have 3 kids, a 12 year old girl (who needs food coaching too) a 3 year old boy, and an Angel baby who passed at the age of 2 due to a kidney disease ( I don't mind talking about it, its healing for me).
4. I have an amazing and supportive husband! His diet is crappier than mine, but he is active so it doesn't show as much! :p I want to educate the whole family on eating right!!
5. I am a smoker who stopped smoking November 22 2010!!! My husband still smokes, but its a work in progress. . . I guess that topic is for a whole different website!! :p
6. I work full time in the Jewelry industry as a Jewelry Repair technician, and I also own my own business as a free-lance photographer ( weddings, seniors, kids, etc ). My business is called Plumeria Photography (like me on Facebook, hahaha!), if you are familiar with the flower, you can understand the word play. :D
7. Finally, I am a full-time college student. I am working towards my Masters in Education ( English, History). I am almost done with my Bachelors right now (excited!!).

I am super busy as you can see, but this is so very important to me, that I am going to make it happen!!! I am excited to be tackling this chapter of my life with full force, and even more excited to get to know all of you amazing MFP'ers!!!

Good luck too all and please feel free to add me as a friend, just leave a brief message!!

Fanks!! I never actually left, but aside from the diary, I haven't been very active. Since I have been "lurking" around on the boards, I decided to reintroduce myself to all of the great people on here!! I didn't know the community was so large!
  • Welcome back and you CAN do it! Just stay focus and be patient. You will eventually succeed!
Good luck on your diet and exercise

wow your story rang true for me in many places,
i also was not brought up with the healthiest of diets fortunatly i was extremely active in my childhood and teen years so the huge portions of dinner my father served me didnt show:) he served me the same size plate as him! from about age 9.......
my parents are alcoholics and addicts and we always had food in the cupboards but not always someone to prepare and cook for us so we grew up with inconsistancies in our nutrition.
the biggest challenge for me has been reducing my food portions, last time round on this site i had set my goals wrong and wasnt allowing myself the amount of calories my body needed to perform and i was tired, grumpy and would binge eat by the end of the week which created a love hate relationships with food which i had never had before eek!
this time around i worked out my proper calorie count with the formula designed by nutritionists and matched my goals so that i had the closest calorie count to that formula:)
and i am not struggling at all! i dont know if my head is in a different place but my motivation is completely there and i am half way through week 2 with no signs of lethargy, irritability or binge eating wohoo!

my husband also isnt very good with his diet and i have battled with him eating things in front of me that i cant or dont want to have. he has finally understood this and stopped wohoo!
he also wants to lose weight but doesnt want to make changes to his lifestyle at this point in time so i have decided that i can be his inspiration! if he sees me losing weight and adopting a healthier lifestyle than he by default may start adopting that lifestlye aswell:)

well this has turned into a novel!

good luck to all of us on our journeys

Well hey there & Thx for the honesty. I myself am a semi-current user ready to embrace the potential of the site. Also, I am a former smoker I don't have an exact stop date b/c I went back and forth for a while. I slipped occasionally, but not since August. It's been over 2 years since I was a full timer and have packed on lbs since quitting. I understand the struggle. Good luck to you!
