HELP!
I'm on week 2 of Bridge 2 10K after completing my first 5K race in 27 mins. Anyone else out there training for 10K?
I would love some more running buddies for mutual support because I am finding it hard going and not sure I will get there!!
Thanks
Jo

You did your first 5K in 27 minutes!?!?!?! I am not worthy! WOW! Great job!
I'm running my first 10K race on 11/12...but have ran that distance and longer a number of times. I tried the Bridge to 10K but it didn't work for me as well as C25K did. Feel free to send a friend request!0 -
maybe, lol, i run 3 miles in 32 minutes, but i dont feel it challenging enough to continue to do 5k's. my thought is to train for a 10k but my dedication has slack...hmmmmmm...when is your 10k?0

A 27 minute 5K is excellent for a first 5K. You should be easily able to stretch that out to a 10K. How long is your long run to date and when is your 10K?0

I just started the bridge to 10k program on monday. So today will be day 2. I am not training for a specific race, i am just doing it to see if i can. I finished the c25k program a couple weeks ago.0

Congrats on your time! I just ran my first 5K in September and have a 10K in May so will be working on it and continuing to get into better shape until then! Feel free to add me0

10Km is my fave distance! Ran the Manchester 10 Km and several RAF events too...
Typically try to run between 5 and 10km on a training day, although did 15.9 on Monday and 9.3 today.
I typically run 5Km in about 25 minutes or just less. so you're doing well!
Manchester 10km took me 55 minutes but I GPS-ed it and actually ran 11km due to the side ways stepping, and the run up to the start line! So bear that in mind if you get a slightly slower time than you hoped...if it's not too crowded then it should be OK though!
On race days, you'll run a lot faster and really get in to your stride!
Remember to Cross train so you don't knacker your joints such as uisng the elliptical and bike. Do you run much outdoors? What sort of terrain is your race?

Thanks you amazing people!! I think runners are the most generous people out there!
I haven't actually entered a race yet and that could be the problem. Perhaps I need the fear factor of actually having a race to train for.
Last week I managed to get below 10 min miles and did 5.3 miles. So far this week I have been pretty hopeless! The weather here in the UK is definitely getting autumnal and running into a gale really isn't fun!
I run outdoors on trails and paths. I hate running on a treadmill with a passion. I swim 2K freestyle once a week and do 30DS when I can't get outdoors.0 -
Feel free to add me...I
Do a 5k weekly but need to up my mileage and have a 10k coming up early next yr so hopefully this will help give me the motivation I need to get more runs in.0 -
I did my first 10k about two weeks ago and loved it! I'd do more, but there's very few 10's around here. :grumble: Lotsa 5k's, but not many of longer lengths.0

My thoughts exactly! Wow - 27 minutes!! I've run two 5Ks and finished in 36 and then 33 minutes. I would love to start training for 10K, but I'm doing PT for my IT band. Haven't run for about 6 weeks now. I think my focus right now needs to be to fix my IT band, and then get back to 5K speed. Sigh... :ohwell:
But good luck to you!!0 -
