One thing I don't understand about 30DS

I've recently bought 30DS and having had a quick scan through it it seems like a sound workout routine. I also like the weights/cardio/abs split of the workout design.

One thing I don't understand though is why you are supposed to do it every day? When do your muscles get a chance to grow and recover?

Has the reasoning behind this ever been explained?

  • I've read that because you don't work your muscles to exhaustion, you can do it everyday. Plus, it makes a much better gimmick than 60 day shred?
  • I agree, I did the 30DS for 10 days straight and happened to Have to take a day off because I was going out of town, then when I got back I did the workout and I was actually stronger than ever because I had rested that one day! I was able to keep up and even do the exercises with more intensity. I think a day off now and again SHOULD be part of the plan... but that's just my opinion!! :)

I usually fast forwarded through her yammering on but I believe she says to work out 6 days a week in the intro of the video.
  • When you're using your own body weight, you don't need to necessarily rest a day in between like when using machines and heavier dumbbells. If you were circuit training through a gym and using like ~200lbs+ for legs, 20-40 for arms, etc...then you would need to rest.

At least that's what my strength training instructor told us when I took that class last semester, lol.

I agree though, it won't do you any harm to take a day of rest a week (maybe even 2 for some people).
