When I go to the gym I could lift weights all day. My biggest problem is cardio. I hate running, I hate elliptical, I hate the bike! I really would like to get cardio in, and when I walk on the treadmill I feel like I'm not getting an intense enough work out. What to do what to do..?

Does your gym offer any classes like kickboxing or spin? Maybe some swimming, rock climbing, basketball or raquetball? How about steep hill intervals on the treadmill?0

I agree - I get my cardio from classes..I also use the stepper, gets my heartrate up..and playing squash if there is a squash court..0

Like the Nike commercial says... "JUST DO IT"
Most people aren't there because they actually enjoy their itme on the cardio machines... It's merely and means to an end.0 -
Yeah like my gym has classes but the kickboxing looks scary.. and do you think the hill intervals are enough?0

I love group fitness --- cardio kickboxing is a great work, zumba is a blast --- my gym has bout 20 different group fitness classes with a mix of cardio and strength.
I don't like the Elliptical either -- but if your gym as the Precor AMT machines -- those are amazing. I burn about 100 calories every 10 minutes and there is no impact on your feet/knees.0 -

Depends on what level you do it at and your fitness level. I did hills today and was a sweaty mess by the end, just don't hang on to the railings. You could also try some HIIT http://www.intervaltraining.net/hiit.html on the treadmill or any other machine, it could make them funner and you don't have to spend much time doing it.0 -
I get bored if I stay on a cardio machine more than 15 minutes, so I do 15 min hard on an eliptical, 15 minutes hard on a bike, and 10 minutes running on the treadmill. It works for me. By the time I start getting bored, it's almost time to move on. Also, I like to use the interval program so it's not monotonous. I do this everyday before I hit the weights.
I've always heard that bringing your heart rate up and down during cardio is good. That is another benefit of this. The minute I spend between machines brings my HR down.
Let me know what you think if you try it.0 -
I agree with waht others have said.. I enjoy Step class, spin class, interval training classes.
For cardio on my own, I go on the machines that have tv's and just zone out - 30 mins of a tv show goes by soo fast!0 -
Hit the pool and swim some laps. I used to be a swimmer (20 years ago back when I was in great shape) and it was easy staying ripped with the burn you get from it.0
