Hey guys,
So i stepped on the scale and it said i gained a pound. Lately i have been eating really bad. Today i had a mcflurry and an apple pie....like 4 oatmeal cookies. and it just ugh i dont know how to start again. Its like it takes me to start feeling bad about myself for me to start working to lose it again. And people keep telling me to take 1 day at a time. but i feel like i mess up and the next day i mess up. and its just ugh.
So i was wondering if anyone out there has advice for this situation
Thanks for listening and thank you to all who answer
-Kayla

Focus on the next thing you eat :) Don't worry about what you have already ate! You can't change that, but you CAN change what you choose to eat from now on :D

Plan your meals in advance in your diary and then stick to it. Load up on veggies and protein. Make sure you pack your lunch so you're not looking last minute on a hungry stomach for the closest fatty joint.

Self control...that happened to me so many times...self control is the key word...I learned that lesson the hard way!

You've gotten great advice- planning out your meals for the day before has helped me A LOT! If you go over on something, work it into your diary or just put in an extra workout. For myself, I have to constantly remind myself that this is a lifestyle change. I will have my good days and bad days. I'm in this for the long run, not some quick fix and then go back to my old ways. Beating yourself up over one day, is nothing chick. It is so true to take one day at a time.

I have the same problem. I'll mess up one day and tell myself I'm going to do better tomorrow and then tomorrow comes and I catch myself eating cookies or some other junk. Now, instead of letting it ruin my whole day I catch myself, realize it and instead of saying, "I'll do better tomorrow," I tell myself, "okay, that was a bad choice, lets make better choices for the rest of the day." THe old me would realize the mess up and then binge the rest of the day and feel terrible about it later. Gaining weight when you're trying to lose it SUCKS. I have weeks where I gain a pound or 2 so I know exactly how you're feeling but don't let it get to you to the point where you just quit. At least its only 1 pound you have to work off again rather than 5, right? Keep going, you'll be happy you did =]

So many times in the past I would use one slip up to sabotage my entire day...if I had a cookie I would use that one cookies to justify having another since I had already "blown" my diet for the day. A cookie will not make you gain a pound...eating a row of cookies might....On days when I cheat...I accept that I have eaten something off my diet and I continue to eat healthy the rest of the day. Having a Mcflurry, although calorie laden is not the be all end all...you would have felt better if you had eaten the rest of the day sensibly. In short don't beat yourself up but also don't go off diet because you have a slip up. To give an example...Thanksgiving day I had a good breakfast, salad for lunch and at dinner enjoyed the stuffing and pie with whipped cream on top....I woke up the next day with the yummy memory of pie and continued on with my diet. It's ok to treat yourself but recognize that treating yourself means just that..."a" treat not several :) Hope this didn't sound too preachy...I total understand how hard it is to stay motivated :)
