Pulled Knee Ligament

So today as I was running, my MCL (the inner ligament on the knee) started hurting super bad. I could barely walk. It's been about 2 hours since I've been home, and it's still pretty sore. It's not incredibly swollen, and I've been icing it every hour or so. How can I tell if it's just a sprain, or if I tore it? Thanks!

I've torn my ACL twice and have had 3 knee surgeries since spring 2010. When I tore my ligament I couldn't walk on or bend my leg. I'm not a doctor, but see how your knee feels in a few days you may have hyper extended it or over worked it. Hope my input helps xoxo Feel better!!0

I was diagnoesd with patellar tendonitis a few months back and the symptoms were like yours...only way to know for sure is to go see a doctor...better to know what's really going on instead of guessing and then hurting yourself worse if you are not right.0

Not sure but when I tore my ACL I couldn't bend my knee at all, horrible pain and swelling.0

I've also torn my ACL, plus my MCL and meniscus in my left knee and I second what someone else already said. Once you've torn it, you can't bend your knee and you can't put weight on it, and in my case, if I tried ,my knee looked like Gumby and bent in an unnatural way (since almost everything was torn). Also, I was told that you would be in more pain if you sprained or partially tore something because it is still attached, once you tear something after the initial pain it doesn't hurt near as much. I didn't have surgery on my knee for almost a week and I don't remember being in a lot of pain before the surgery, I just had to be on crutches because I couldn't walk.
Keep resting and icing it, if it still hurts tomorrow I would get it checked out.0 -
Yeah the first time i tore my ACL I did not only my ACL but my LCL and meniscus along with severe bone bruises on my tibia and femur. The second time I tore it, it was my ACL, LCL, and meniscus again but still the same thing: no weight bearing, couldn't bend it, felt awkward.
You really should go to your doctor if it still bothers you, take it easy and get better quick! xoxo0
