I vacationed in Europe when I was 22, took a semester off and spent 1-1/2 months touring the countries. The only weird experience I had was in France and it freaked me out simply because I traveled alone. When I got to the hotel in Paris, I checked in, got everything settled got my key and headed for my room. It was on the second floor so I got on the elevator and head up. When the elevator got to the second floor and the doors opened, it was -pitch black-! Dark! No light! I was like, W-T-F.???????? I slowly stepped off the elevator into the hall and the lights turned on. Trust me, that was a relief because I couldn't see my hand in front of my face in the dark (it was that dark)! Anyways my room was located at the end of the hall so I proceeded to my room after almost sh^tting my pants. Well, when I get to my room and go to open the door, the effing lights went out!!!!!!!!!! I was standing in the dark in this long hotel hallway! I managed to get the key in the lock and opened the door and yeah you bet I rushed inside.
The freaking hotel had f%cking occupancy sensors in their halls. WTF? I would think this would be against code (at least here in the U.S. it would). So, every morning when I was ready to go on my adventures about the city as soon as I opened my hotel room door, the effing hall was pitch black........... oh the memories.

Sooooo, I'm guessing you would say that wasn't a positive experience?

There is a Fire & Ice hotel in Cape Town where each bathroom has a theme. Went into the naked room where the towels are strategically placed, obviously being the curious guy I am Ilifted the towel when a alarm went off...some way for the guests to know another idiot peeked. Went out there and everyone laughed knowing what I did, felt so damn embarrassed.

Can check the pictures of each toilet in the link below

Sounds like to me you have an issue with black.

It's my favorite color. Now darkness, yes, darkness (devoid or partially devoid of light : not receiving, reflecting, transmitting, or radiating light) and I have issues.

The people in the neighboring room were having the most ridiculously loud sex, we didn't but another room called security...within minutes of security leaving we heard the woman demand her money and then high heels clicking past the door as she left.

cool thing that happened once; won tickets to a concert that was about an hour away. Decided to get a hotel and picked the one with the huge bus hoping it was the band. Sure enough it was, met the band after the concert and got autographs. I wish it was cooler but that's about as good as it got.

I had a swinger couple try to pick me up for a threesome at a hotel once.

Not that I would have done it, regardless, but the fact that they were both well into their golden years and well, furry... Didn't help.

I was at a Mexican resort about a year ago and got a little too drunk on tequila shots. My bf walked me to our room and then walked our female friend safely back to her room. While I was praying to the porcelain god, I looked over and saw a pair of big boots outside the bathroom. The boots led up to quite a large man standing in my hotel room. He was asking me if I was ok and needed help but I repeatedly yelled for him to get out and he wouldn't. I immediately thought Hostel and barricaded myself in the bathroom and started screaming for my bf. I really don't know how much time passed but when he finally got back to our room I was hysterical. Security called because of all the screaming and had to come and calm me down and get the whole story. When I was finally calm I thought maybe it was a hotel employee checking on me but no one ever came out and said it was. You would think if it was an employee, they would have told me so, so I wouldn't be scared. We never figured it out but I refused to be alone for the rest of the trip. I will also never go to that resort again. I also will never drink shots on tequila on vacation anymore.

I was a hotel doorman for a few years. Graveyard shift. Yeah I've got stories, but not a one that I can think of that'll fly with the puritans around this place.

Let's just say I knew every working girl in the city and am probably the only guy who's been paid BY escorts...

Yep.. went to Nashville for anniversary and stayed in a really nice hotel. Well me and husband were getting busy, and just finishing up when the maid knocked on the door. We yelled, she didn't hear us and came in anyway. She caught an eyeful. :embarassed:

I just got home from two days in a hotel. The top of the headboard on the bed was sticky. I don't want to know.

Maybe it was the male from that swinging couple referenced a few posts ago.

I'm pretty sure it was the Mexican Michael Myers. The boots gave him away.

Why is it that European hotels don't offer was clothes?? Italy, France and Belgium were all like that when I was there two week ago. In Italy I ended up using a shoe shinner sponge to wash with. Yes I did. I have to have a wash cloth. I don't feel clean if I just use soap and my hand for some reason.

And the whole "save energy" thing over there where you have to put your keycard in a slot inside the room to active the electricity? First off, when I got into Verona I was so tired and couldn't figure out how to get my room open because there wasn't a slot to put the card in. It took me about five minutes of standing in the hallway cussing and about to go back down to the desk when it dawned on me that I might need to simply hold the thing up to the scanner dealy by the door.
Then when I got into the room, some of the lights turned on but not the bathroom ones..so I figured I could live without lights for a night until I realized the blowdryer wasn't working. I finally figured out you have to put the keycard in the slot to get the electricity to work.
Apparently its some EU thing and I applaud them for saving energy and all, but supply some damn was clothes for heavens sake!

LOL my hotel in Belgium was that way two weeks ago. A little strange to walk into a pitch black hallway and not have it light up till your like five steps into it. My hallway also had a half a step down at one point that you can't see or don't remember or it was too late...and one too many Pech Mel Busch (peach beers) lead to me nearly falling in the dark lol.

    Keep talking...

Really I can't. People are getting banned around here for a lot less than what I did at the hotel. Yay it's so fun being on MFP!
