I drink my 8 8oz glass of water per day but my legs still look like the Sahara! I always thought I had such dry skin from not drinking enough water. Does any one else have this problem? Can I drink enough water to get rid of it or is it lotion for life?

  • This will happen to everyone when winter comes near. It is October, afterall. Even those with "perfect skin" will start to see this.

Sorry to say, but your skin is likely just dry and no amount of water will necessarily fix it. Try moisturizing with coconut oil.
  • I used to think that too. Found out, I have eczema - BAD!
  • Actually, I live in the tropics and I have this problem as well. I drink at least 11 glasses of water a day and still have overly dry skin. I think the older you get, the less hydrated your skin becomes, so I guess it is lotion for now and for all eternity LOL

The best thing you can do is moisturize as soon as you get out of the shower to lock in the moisture. If you do this every time you shower, you will see a big difference. Less itchy too. Try not to take too long or too hot showers, it strips away the natural oil in your skin.

I've worked for a dermatology office for 16 years and this is our #1 recommendation for dry skin

It probably doesn't have anything to do with how much water you drink, but there are certain foods that are good for your skin, like salmon. I would say, just research foods that are naturally good for your skin and moisturize with intensive lotions, like shay butter (especially after showers).
