new rules of weighlifting for women

i just finished this book but not sure how i feel about the program. anyone who has completed it or is in the process of this workout program? what do you think?

***LOVE*** IT!!!!!
I read the book and felt compelled to start the program immediately. Now, I had no heavy weights at home and husband and I were checking craigslist for weight benches and free weights, but were having no luck. I finally went to the big box store and bought a cheap, $20 pair of 20lb dumbells and combined with my smaller weights, kettlebell, resistance band and exercise ball, I was ready to start!
So, I couldn't do the barbell exercises, but that's okay. I used my dumbbells instead. For each exercise prescribed, I came up with a close variation that allowed me to go forward with the program and get results.
We JUST joined a gym this month and still, there are no free weights/barbells, but we do have access to machines and pulleys and lots more dumbbells than I have at home. I am so excited to take lifting to the next level.
Did it work for me? Yes. My most exciting moment came when a lady I didn't know approached me as I was running the last few yards of a local 5K. She was encouraging me along to the finish and she said, "Your shoulders are built, woman, use them to get you through to the end!!" It felt great to have a stranger notice!
And I am finally cutting some of the extra flab around my middle and I know it's got a lot to do with the lifting and the nutrition that goes along with that.

It is a great program - if you keep on challenging yourself!
I do a very similar program with my trainer ( gave him the book to read), and then use it as my " go to" on the days I train on my own.....
I had a contact on MFP that was getting fantastic results, but I think she has been banned, as she has just disappeared over the past week :-(0 -

i am lifting now on my own and i have seen a gain in muscle definition. my main problem is my stomach and no matter what i do it does not change. i was thinking of just incorporating some of the exercises into my routine i already do but i dont know if that will work? do i have to follow it exactly or can i modify it and choose exercieses to add to what i already do?0

I did my first workout today and it was tough. I have lifted in the past so I was really happy to feel challenged . The best I ever looked was when I lifted so I am excited to be doing this again. I am concerned about the eating. I am always terrified to up my calories so much. I read where he suggested a moderate slash of calories and am taking that route. How have you guys dealt with the eating side of it?0
