work as exercise?

O.K. I have a question concerning deciding when it's work or when it's extra exercise/calorie burning. I work as a maintenance/carpenter 5 days a week average and entered it as my personal info when I set up my account. So every day m-f work of course is already figured in for my calorie allowance goals, but what happens when there is significantly extra like;
I worked last week m-f usually activity carpentry etc. - then on the weekend I dug by hand (pick, shovel, bar) 3 four foot deep 12" diameter holes in very rocky quarry overburden for 6 hours one day, 4 hours the next. I was exhausted and all my muscles were burning like from an awesome workout. I used shoveling snow from the data base ( snow would have been much easier) - and it added tons of calories -5000 plus just to one day
So where would you say dividing line is- that's just my daily work/ that's additional calories burnt. I personally can't stand formal exercise, sit on a mat and do sit ups, but to do 4 hours extra carpentry framing a deck after work, or rake the yard, or push mow, that I like.
I know I need to eat more for those type days but? Is it based on 40 hour work week, anything beyond is extra calories burnt? or something else?

I think the only way I would really consider my jobly duties as exercise is if I have completely change my eating habits compared to how I use to...Think about it...Did you gain the weight doing the same job requirments? If so then unless you are cleaning eating then the exercise is still the same... You will need to add additional...Myself I don't add things as cleaning vigoriously and chores as working out...0

I work in a produce department and I'm constantly walking around and carrying boxes. I usually don't count it as my exercise (at least not my MAIN exercise for the day) but considering you're moving and not just standing around, I don't see why you couldn't include it in. Just make sure not to overestimate? I occasionally factor in my walking with loads as exercise and it does count for extra burnt calories.
I'm hypoglycemic and my sugar will drop like craaaazy if I don't eat a little more on these days... So maybe that'll give you some insight.0 -
I agree with this! If you want different results, then you got to do something different. The same things will get you the same things you are still having problems with (no weight loss)0

OK , but if you work as a grocery clerk m-f, and then on Saturday you spend 6 hours digging a ditch by hand when you would normally just go shopping or going and having fun...?0
