OK so feel like I have just hit a huge bump in my journey and need all my MFP friends and fellow travellers to help me through...
Today I got a text from my PT to say that due to personnel reasons he is leaving London and going to the other end of the country and I am gutted...
I know this sounds dramatic but I have tried to start this journey so many times and he has been such a key part of my success we have an amazing relationship and friendship... I am scared that things will now start to go wrong and I will fail...
I actually feel really emotional about this and a bit lost...
Do i try to find another trainer?
Do I try to carry on alone with what he has taught me?
How do I cope with the feel that now I will fail?
Advice greatly appreciated....

First of all, you won't fail if you have enough confidence in yourself and us (MFP). You have done an amazing job so far, and he has given you the tools. If you feel you can't do alone, then try to find another personal trainer otherwise try it on your own to see how it goes. Rely on us to help you - you CAN and WILL do it. We won't let you fail if you keep us involved.0

It sounds like you might benefit from having another trainer...at least initially. When you think you are ready to go it alone, then start cutting back on trainer visits, or make a plan of when to stop. Stop using a trainer when it's *your* choice.0 -
Great job so far ... I think that you probably know a lot more than you think you do, but if you're unsure, get someone else to help you keep doing what he's helped you achieve so far. Plus, if you feel lost, we're always here for support Best of luck!0

I am just a bit shocked by how lost this has left me feelng - I would never normally react this way...0

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely get a new trainer if you think you need one. We all have our own "security blankets". Maybe get the mind set of not letting your trainer down (get it off of you) and pushing yourself forward in the right direction. Would you be able to keep in contact with the trainer after he leaves? Maybe that sort of contact would help you out a bit. We are always here for you!!!!!!!0

I think this is a sign that you need to try to do this on your own. I get that it's scary and it might be tough but at some point, you're going to need to figure out how to keep yourself motivated and accountable for your own actions and what better time than now?
The last time I attempted to lose weight, I became way too dependent on my friend (who's a personal trainer and was giving me advice guidance in exchange for my advice on her website, products etc) but when she got too busy to check up on me or meet with me, I totally dropped the ball. Blamed her at first but of course it was no one's fault but my own. This time I swore, even with the support of friends, family and gym buddies, ultimately I could and would only rely on myself.
Maybe ask him if you can keep in touch over email or phone every once in a while in case you have questions. And/or have him recommend someone else local to you that you can schedule a session with once in a while for new ideas/updates. That way too, if you decide you're not quite ready to do it on your own, you've got a replacement in mind.0 -
Can your PT recommend another one for you to try out? Its worth a try...not like you can't go your own way if needed.0

I feel your pain. I felt similarly when my mentor at work left to work for another organization. It was heart breaking. I would seek your PT's recommendation for someone else. Take a week and go it alone, just to adjust and process your feelings. Then start auditioning new trainers!0
