Eat fermented fruit or sniff methylated spirits. Or, just don't drink. It's a misconception that vodka is low calorie. It isn't. No alcohol is. And it's all just totally empty of any nutritionaly value, kills vital brain cells, stops the body from being able to get any nutrition from food properly and dehydrates you terribly. Why would anyone want that?
The underlined portion is complete crap, and dehydrates "terribly" is pretty shaky as well.

Alcohol killing brain cells is a blatant lie that goes back to the 1930's Temperance movement (the ones that brought us Prohibition). Total BS. Hit google and you'll find pages and pages debunking this myth.

Preventing the body from getting nutrition from food is so out-there that I don't even know where to begin. Are you possibly talking about B-vitamins? If so, you're trying to apply the symptoms of chronic alcoholism to occasional, casual users - a huge no-no.

As for dehydration, alcohol's diuretic effect is 10ml of water per gram of ethanol. A shot of vodka has about 12g of ethanol, which would make you express 120ml (4oz) of fluid. A beer has about 16g ethanol, so 160ml (5.5oz) lost, but it also has over 230ml (11.4 oz) of water in the same can. Essentially, drinking anything besides shots of spirits (with no mixer or chaser) will bring with it enough water to keep you from getting dehydrating.

You're welcome to have a negative opinion on alcohol use, but please stop making up and/or passing on fake information to justify it.

^^^ Excellent retort!! Some people are so misinformed and purile, they are blinded by BS! Tsk!

Totally delicious: Ocean Spray Light Blueberry (about 10 calories) with Pinnacle Whipped Cream vodka (69 calories per ounce).

Reminds me of blueberry pancakes with whipped cream. Yum!

This sounds AMAZING! I will have to give it a try. Got to say I love whipped!

I am out on the tiles tomorrow and I have already put my Manhattan cocktail in my food diary! :drinker:

Basically, I make sure I eat less, do more exercise (I tend to go out for meal & drinks which can make life pretty tough during the day).
I tend to stick with Vodka and Diet Coke - around 56 cals(or sugarfree Redbull 67 - cals) or gin and slimline at around 60 cals. Wine however is the best value for alcohol for volume drunk....one glass of white sets you back at 120 cals (this is for 125ml) and red is approximately 130 cals for 125ml.....and I don't know about you, but wine gets me drunk quite quickly. : /

I try and stick within my calorie limits but sometimes I don't and I'm out with friends and socialising and perhaps celebrating so I don't let it get me down.

just keep drinking till you spew.

    not serious.

Just what I was gonna say! Haha! :drinker:

But personally, I just drink a half pint of Guinness (about 100 calories) and leave it at that. I'd rather get healthy than drunk. :)

    Love this post!!!

I am partial for a binge drink as bad as i know it is and i kinda know it's why i put on weight. Def say vodka and low cal mixers are a good idea...diet coke, soda water and lime. I also tend to put some soda water in with wine too. Thing is after a few drinks and people start mentioning jagerbombs the words diet and health go completely out the window!!! Cocktails are the worst too...i love a mojito and always ask for less sugar and soda water instead of lemonade.

Def having a weekend off the booze this week, although i'm planning on a good steak on sat night and i know a great red wine would go nicely with this :-((

It takes me a lot of alcohol to get drunk (at least 7 shots plus mixed drinks) so one time I decided to skip dinner and drink on an empty stomach. Save on calories + fewer calories to get drunk = perfect...right? So 3 shots in and I'm nice and drunk, and someone brought Taco Bell, so I start chowing down on a burrito. Baaaad idea. Taco Bell + empty stomach + drunk can only end in misery. I will never ever try that again.

lol its always 5'oclock somewhere around my world, so if I choose to drink i either bud light or tequila. If i know that we are going to be out and drinking i put in a little extra exercise. It has been working for me so far...I know its not good at all to drink but oh well...we only live once right.:drinker:

Take shots! They get you drunk quick and you don't waste calories on mixers!

    Or like people said, Vodka!

You could have a diet coke and vodka, but that tastes foul, so I just take shots. Even Sumbucca (at 100 cal per shot) is worth it cause if you're a lightweight like me you only need 3 to get fairly drunk!

Use soda water and crystal lite or diet lemonade/juice as a mixer instead of soda or regular juice.
I also like to use soda water and MIO - the strawberry watermelon one is delicious with vodka.

I usually drink Gin and Slimline tonic. It's actually pretty much my favourite drink, but very handy that it's low calorie. On a day to day basis I never ever drink diet drinks - I don't like fizzy drinks anyhow. But I am willing to make an exception for the sake of getting drunk once in a while.

What's the point in all this if you can't go out enjoying yourself and show off your new and toned physique. Life is too short to be an angel all the time.
