My good friend was hit by a drunk driver a week ago when driving home after hanging out with friends He struck her jeep, the car caught fire, hit the guard rail, went over and rolled down the embankment.

Due to a window being smashed in the roll, she was able to climb out when the doors didn't open and get to safety before the entire thing was engulfed in flames!

She said "It was weird but when the car started rolling, I remembered seeing one of those what to do in an emergency things and tucked my head and held on to the steering wheel" And of course she had her seat belt on. That is probably what saved her from smacking her head or something!

I've been a little in shock all week just thinking how close I was to losing my friend!! And she is now going through some post traumatic issues. She was shaken up, got some scratches and a burn on her hand (from the heat coming through the vent from the car being on fire as she rolled), but I can't believe she's OK!

Here is a photo of her standing beside what is left of her blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was finally able to see her in person today! PHEW!!
So, WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT people!!

Yes, that too! The guy who hit her had his car totaled too. She is meeting with lawyers this week to get the ball rolling in the lawsuit.

It's just sick how many people drink and drive!!

A friend of mine who has traveled abroad said that in Sweden they are known to drink A LOT, but if you mention driving after you've had a drink, the folks will look at you like you just said you like to murder babies. It is simply not done. We as Americans should learn that lesson!!!

I am glad your friend is ok. :flowerforyou:

OMG! So close and she survived. Thank goodness. We forget how close we are to losing it sometimes. Drinking and driving is not an accident. It is a crime. So glad your friend is ok. Look at her in the picture she truly is telling us not to take life for granted..I admire her courage to get a pic beside her car and give us a thumbs up. I would be too traumatized to see my car if it happened to me. tks for sharing this miracle tamtastic.

I am so blessed to have such good friends in my life. I'm still not truly understanding the impact of what has happened to me; I'm slowly figuring out all that has been done to me b/c of this accident. My friends are so loving and I just thank God that I am able to see them and my family.

Some may see my living through what has truly been hell for me as a miracle for MYSELF; I see it as a miracle for someone else, who if it hadn't been ME hit by this 'wreck', may not have been so lucky as to live. I feel blessed to have taken the impact and possibly saved someone else's life/lives.

God bless everyone and thank you all for your thoughts.
