Day 4 of Strep and Freaking Dr's (lengthy venting)

Well luckily after not being able to work out due to be outta town and having strep throat this week I still lost weight.
I'm a little irritated at my Dr. and I just wonder why they don't listen to their patients and just presume they know what is right.
I get strep throat a good 3-4 times a year and have had this happen for the past 3 years now. (Ever since I started teaching). I was too sick to get to CSULB student health center and opted to be a cash patient at my old ear nose throat Dr from when I was a kid cuz he's right down the street.
I was prescribed Keflex which I wasn't thrilled about because I've had it before and it's not all that effective for me. The next day I felt even worse, called him and asked for something different like a Z pack or Biaxin and he said NO, a z pack wouldn't work for this (funny cuz I've had it before) and that I just had to wait it out. :grumble:
After two nights of no sleep and 3 days of intense throat/tonsils pain I put myself in my car and drove to CSULB. I have my physical therapy grad school interview tomorrow and I CAN NOT miss it and need to be somewhat understandable. The Dr. at the student health center looked at my tonsils and freaks out like everyone does when they see them because they are HUGE, writes a RX for a Z pack and I'm out the door in like 20 minutes.
Why couldn't this of happened 4 days ago?? I would've been feeling better and back at work instead of missing this ENTIRE week. I'm so pissed at my old Dr I'm tempted to ask for a refund for the $125.00 I had to give him for my cash visit.
I understand Dr's go to school for this but it's my body and I know what works and what doesn't work and I just wish they would listen every now and then.
Thanks for listening to the rant.....

Does he know what Strep can do to your body if not treated??? Ugh, I had a Dr. tell me my son's tonsils were not enlarged when he was sick...um ok, he had his tonsils out 2 years ago...dumb ***!0

See, I didn't even really realize what it can do to you until recently also and that has me super concerned and is making me think seriously about a tonsilectomy this summer.
It releases toxins into the blood causing heart damage and rheumatic fever!! Helllloooo!0 -
It can also cause Kidney damage. If you get Strep that often, I would be inclined to have them removed! It's not worth it. Plus, when they do take them out & disect them, there can still be bacteria & infection inside, which can cause harm. It would only be a few days of discomfort.0
