I worked in sales at a hotel chain all through college. I booked meeting rooms and groups. It was such a fun job in that I got to meet people from all over the world and travel quite a bit. But... one day housekeeping was short staffed and I volunteered to jump in there and help. That experience has made me a bit squeamish about staying in hotels anymore. People are disgusting slobs when they dont have to clean up after themselves. And well... the cleaning methods I was taught were hardly sufficient. I always have to take the comforter off the bed and I keep shoes on. Something I hate to do normally.

I was in the breakfast area when a man and little girl, maybe 4 years old came in. We exchanged hellos and a bit of small talk. Then I asked her if she had a good sleep. She said, "no, mommy and daddy's bed kept squeaking and squeaking." the daddy cut in with "that's enough, chatterbox."
  • A couple years back, we got a room at a cheap hotel while on a roadtrip. They gave us a key to a hotel room that was already occupied, and we walked in and.. saw some interesting things. They didn't notice us, so we quietly left. I'm guessing it was because they were so loud.
