search 30 ds there are several groups doing it
  • I just did day 5 of level two. I'm also doing the 150 dips challenge and getting ready to walk another half marathon in less than a month. You're welcome to add me if you want. I started out at 214 pounds, several years ago, and am down to 139. Was on Weight Watchers and started using MFP 6 months ago or so.
  • not lame at all!! I would be happy to help you out! I have done30 day shred, it is a good workout, I am not currently doing it, but I work out daily at the gym. Feel free to add me! You can do this!

    Hi Tia!
Congrats on making the decision to make a change, and welcome to MFP.

I did 30DS as my very first fitness video after joining the site in May. I've worked out steadily ever since and I'm currently doing P90X (it still feels so cool to say that; I had thought that I'd never be fit enough to attempt it, but here I am!) I wish the timing was right for me to join you, but it just won't work for me at the moment.

Anyway, a few things about the Shred: YOU WILL GET SORE! The first 4 days define your committment...your thighs will ache and burn and you will want to quit. DON'T! It gets way better after the initial soreness fades, and you will easily see your transformation begin. You will get stronger. You will have more endurance. You just bring your best to it every day, take ibuprofen and hot baths when you need to, and you will get the results you want.

Next: Do 10 days at each level. You don't have to wait until you feel you are "ready" to advance to Level 2. There are modifications on the higher levels, too, if you need them. The other levels change the moves up a bit, and it keeps it interesting. Plus, it builds on your gains from the earlier levels. You can always do it again with less modification and more of the "badass" moves. (I plan to revisit it myself, perhaps in the spring, after P90X is done. Just to see how far I've come, ya know?)

Also: protect yourself from injury. You are the only one who knows if you are just bogging down or actually hurting. My daughter hurt her knees with the jumping jacks and tried to push through it. It nearly crippled her; she had torn a tendon. She does straight jumps and marches now instead. Listen to your body. Modify, modify, modify!

Stick to your calorie goal and manage your macros (fat, carbs, protein). You can't out-exercise a bad diet!

Take your before and after photos and measurements. I measured, but have no pics. I regret it bitterly.

Make sure your little girl is not in the room when you work out as you get more into it. I learned that my sweet, quiet, polite daughter has a vocabulary that would melt stone! The things she called Jillian...SHOCKING! <grin>

I hope to see your story on the Success boards! And most of all, have a great time!!!!!

I am on day 9 tomorrow. I blog everyday about my 30ds workout to hold myself a little bit accountable for doing it. You are welcome to add me if you would like. I do the 30 day shred, and then pilates after. Sometimes I throw in a second 20 minute shred workout. As of tuesday I had lost 3 inches total for my first week. Looking forward to see if I have lost any more this week :-). Weight wise I gained 2 lbs and then lost 1 of them. I have heard not to expect too much of a weight loss but you should see results in the measurements. I took pics and as horrifying and humiliating as it will be - I will post the results if its something worth mentioning.

Good luck to all of you doing it!

I have not done 30DS since Thursday, or was it Wednesday? I've been suffering with sinus and allergy problems and every time my head went near the ground, I got a horrible headache, not to mention other sinus symptoms. I'm back at it today. I'm going to just restart Level 2, then next week go to level 3.
