Im thinking about ditching weight watchers and do MFP exclusively. Anyone had success in doing this?

you obviously can do it...and you don't need to PAY anyone to lose weight! Cut that cord boy!0

Save yourself the pennies and cut that cord!!! You CAN do this!!0

I've only been doing mfp and it's going well. Do you need the "paying of money" to keep you accountable? If not, cut that cord!0

I ditched WW the day after I found this site. I wasn't doing great with the new plan. I know from January until April I lost and regained the same 6 lbs. I have lost 19 lbs since being here. I am hoping to be at a 25lb lost on Monday. I still use some of the techniques I learned from WW and plus this site is free.0

The question should be whether you need the weekly meetings to succeed. If you do, then WW may be where you want to stay. However, if an online community works fine for you, then just go with that. I've done both WW and MFP exclusively as well as together and for me, the results have been about the same. I finally decided I didn't want to give up the money I could use on race entries and new clothes!
But, all that being said, you have to do what you think will work best for YOU.
Best of luck either way!0 -

Hey hun,
If you are just counting points you can do that here. I buy weight watchers products still like cheese, yogurt, and the snacks every once in a while. They make good stuff ) With weight watchers you count points. Here it gives you a break down of how much more of what you can still eat for the day. Same thing just more universal0 -
I did WW, successfully lost weight and gained most of it back. I've been more successful losing weight on MFP (in a shorter period of time, I might add) and it's FREE, FREE, FREE!!!!! WW works, but for me MFP works better! I only wish I had all the money I spent on WW cuz then I could buy a new wardrobe!
Best of luck.0 -
I cut the cord with WW, too, after I found this site. I originally lost 70 pounds on the old flex plan of Weight Watchers, but did not do well on the new Points Plus program. My body couldn't handle all of the 0 point fruits, because some of them, like bananas, were causing me to gain weight.
I had been yo-yoing with the same 3 pounds for several weeks on the new Points Plus program, so when I cut the cord and joined MFP exclusively, I've already lost 10 pounds. I used to think I needed to pay to lose weight, but this site has helped me out tremendously. I also find counting calories a lot easier than trying to calculate points.
WW taught me a lot about portion control, but I'm definitely doing great without my "training wheels" on from WW, too! You can do it Good luck!0 -
I dont even go to the meetings anymore. I ditched that after a couple months. The people there were so depressing and unmotivating. If I know people are losing here and its proven than I am more likely to just make the switch.
I have learned a lot by being on WW. Im leaning towards cancelling and just taking it to the next level and lost the last 20lbs.0 -
no weight watchers needed
bonus: this is FREE and has a better long term success rate0 -
I have a SUPER buddy on this journey with me - that's VERY helpful. (Thanks SallieBeige!)
I enjoy the calorie counting - yes, I know it's MAD!
I don't mind weighing my food before I eat it - although I did think that this bit would drive me MAD.
I weigh myself twice a day - Maybe OTT but as long as the general trend is DOWN I'm OK with that!
I HATE not having an accurate reading of my mass. My scales can vary by one kilogram within 3 minutes!!! (Do WW provide you with accurate scales? I think that's the bit I would miss!)0 -

well i've never done WW but I've lost 40 pounds here on MFP in 33 weeks
that's good for a full time working mom, imho0 -
Okay, Im going to cancel WW!! I can always re-join later if I need to.
Thanks everybody0 -
I did it, but went back to paying for WW Online within a couple of months. WW just works better for me!
I now track both places for the time being.0 -
Yep, I cut that cord at the beginning of the year and haven't looked back. Not only have I lost weight but I've learned so much more about nutrition than I ever learned with WW.0

I have joined and rejoined WW so many times. I lost alot when it was the old Momentum and befor the Flex plan, but the new plan fell short for me. I am back to my starting weight after being out of work for 2 months. My new job is at a call center, so I need to step it up and get moving. I don't have my old WW tolls, so I am looking for support! If anyone can be my buddy I would appreciate it. I want to get back down to 150...not too much of a difficult goal-I'm at 182 right now.0

I felt the same way about the WW meetings. I only went to one then quit. Too many people sitting around whining instead of doing. Folks on MFP seem to be doing a lot more of the "doing" than whining and it's totally free.0
