I've always been overweight but now that I'm a freshman in college I want to make some good, healthy changes. For some reason I'm nervous and afraid that I won't be able to stick to it. So it would mean a lot if I could get some helpful tips from you guys because you all have wonderful success stories. Thank You

If you want it bad enough - you'll stick with it.
Everyone's body is different, so what works for me may or may not work for you. Remember this because at some point, you'll probably need to step out of the box and take a chance to figure out what works best for YOU. Read all you can, listen to what worked for other people, but at the end of the day? Know that we're all just a little different and you will likely have to do some trial and error before you hit on what is best for you.
Drink water.
Take one day at a time. Don't try and rush the weight loss - you didn't put the weight on overnight and you won't lose it overnight. Slow and steady wins this race!
Don't give up! No matter how tired, how frustrated or how discouraged you are - DO NOT GIVE UP!0 -
I have a friend who avoided the freshman 15 by only taking one plate at the cafeteria. Not a plate for food and a bowl for salad, and not going up twice. It seems easy, but those cafeterias will definitely get you.
For nighttime hunger pangs, keep a supply of nuts or granola bars or carrots. Don't keep chips or candy. Nothing ruins portion control like cramming for a test.0 -
I'm a senior in college! College is a great time to reinvent yourself.
My tips
- use the school gym!!!!!!!!! make time everyday to go
- use the food diary to realize how much you are eating. as a freshman, i would eat corn dogs and fries. NOT HEALTHY lol!! Take advantage of the salad bar and the fresh items
- get your friends to do active things...walks, go to the gym together, go canoeing, whatever. don't spend every night watching movies and eating candy like i used to do.0 -
Welcome, You can do this!
Drink lots of water, get your heart beat up often, and EAT, don't worry. Just make sure you are getting enough healthy calories so you're body won't go into starvation mode. You are going to have so much fun in college, and only a small portion of it involves beer and pizza : )0
