Lately, I've been making banana bread and zucchinni bread. I use applesauce instead of oil!! It is sooo moist and delicious! If you use sweetened applesauce then make sure to cut back on your sugar. It cuts SOOOOO many calories. It's amazing!

Can you use applesauce in cookies?

That would be a challenge to do low sugar, but I can try! I don't use Splenda, but Stevia instead. Will definitely give that one try. Any specific cake flavor?

Yes, but cookies are a bit more difficult than cakes and breads. Whenever I replace applesauce in my cookies I don't replace ALL the fat b/c it will change the cookie. Butter makes cookies more dense. If you replace all the fat, your dough might be too thin as well (you'd have to adjust the other liquids), and your cookie might become more cake like. I'd start with 1/4 to 1/3 of the fat and go from there. So, if it calls for 1 cup butter, try just replacing 1/4 to 1/3 cup of that with applesauce. If it turns out, you can always try for more next time!
