why has my weight loss stalled

Hi, I started MFP a month ago, and after the initial shock how how much I was actually over eating, I cut down to what it recommends, and am more than happy with the 13 lbs I've lost already.
However, the last week has all seemed to come to a stop, after a few minor weight changes (very slight up and down), it has completely stabilised, and I don't know why it there is no improvement.
I will keep at it, but what am I doing wrong?

Could be any one of a hundred things!

Are you exercising too much? You might need to eat your caloriees burnt.
Have your portions crept up? I find sometimes after a few weeks, Im a bit looser and guess more...
Drinking all your water? Water is ESSENTIAL to losing weight.
How much have you got to lose? The loss usually gets smaller the closer you get!
Need to boost your exercise? Try a higher intensity, or maybe just mix it up, try a different time of day.

Well there are plenty more... Dont give up!

    Hi,

Have a read of the link (mfp basics) in my signature - maybe your settings aren't correct for the amount of weight you still have to lose. Which may mean you might not be eating enough.

Also are you tracking sodium? High levels may be causing you to retain water & therefore weight.
  • Hi, this is great motivation, thank you

Increase your exercise (time or intensity). Change your exercise up to something new,

    and don't give up!!!

    Your body will eventually behave.

    Plateaus happen to everyone.

Just make sure you aren't going over in your calories and are counting every bite.
Those secret "one bite" calories can really add up.

oh yeah, and EAT those exercise calories. I know 3 people now who lost MORE after starting to eat exercise calories.
I always eat mine. I am toooo hungry not to.

Some people swear by a rest day or eating more one day a week.
I find that I lose a bit, plateau for a bit, lose a bit again...it's not regular.
