    "Sally"

I have green smoothies everyday for breakfast and lunch. I try to vary them somewhat, but my base "recipe" is one or two small YELLOW (not ripe) bananas, spinach and or romaine, coconut water (or just plain water) and either an apple (I prefer granny smiths, I like them tart) a cuite (clementine/mandarine orange) or pear, depending upon what I have in my fridge. I will also add frozen fruit from time to time. Add some ice, extra water and throw it in my Vitamix. Comes out creamy, green, smooth and wonderful! LOL

1-1.5cup greens, 1 cup frozen fruit, 1 cup 100% fruit juice

NEVER use carrots or apples because they won't blend. I don't know how you are with textures, but it was horrible for me. You can vary amounts and play around with it to get a consistency to your liking. Also, you can add benefiber for a fiber boost. I used Tropicana 50 to reduce sugar.

My friend's recipe is as follows:

■Giant handful of spinach + cup of water (mix first)
    Then add

■1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (mine was 150 cal a scoop, and the scoop is BIG)
■Half a packet of vanilla cafe for instant coffee (45 cal)
    ■Half a frozen banana (45 cal)
    ■Tsp peanut butter (50 cal)
    Finally

■Ice! Throw in a couple big handfuls of ice to make it nice and cold.

Sounds great, but I thought about subbing protein powder for the frozen fruit I have.

All those sound so good =)

My texture prefrence varies. The only texture I really can't tolorate is celery. For some reason, I just can't stand it.

mmmm I add Spinach to every single protein shake that I have!!! Sometimes I go nuts and add spinach and beetroot - it comes out a lovely brown colour!! Oh and adding avocado to a shake also makes it super velvet-y mmmm might go make one now hehe!

    I make one with:

    1 banana
1/2 cup orange juice (or water, add more if you like)
    1 cup spinach
1 cup kale (without the stem, just the leafy bits)
1 tbsp ground flax seeds (for the omega 3!)
And frozen fruit to taste...berries and peaches are great. Usually ends up being about a cup total.

If it's a meal replacement I might add greek yogurt for some protein to hold me over until my next meal. No ice needed because of the frozen fruit, but if you're using fresh fruit I'd add some ice or freeze the juice in ice cube trays to make it blend better. Good luck! :flowerforyou:
