I have never jogged with someone. When I first made my decision to live a more active lifestyle (two years ago), I used to walk with my boyfriend (currently ex boyfriend) in the morning before class. But when i progressed to jogging, my ex got frustrated with me and stopped coming. So I have been jogging by myself. However, an old friend of mine has moved back to my area and wants to start jogging with me. This is good because its starting to get cold out, so it will help motivate me to get out there even during cold weather. But what if we dont jog at the same pace? I jog 10 minute miles and he has already told me that he hardly ever does cardio.

When I ran with my ex, we just went together..he's much faster than me. We were on a track, so it's not like he was leaving me in the dust or anything. Maybe that could work for you guys; just go together, don't expect one to keep up/slow down to the other's pace.

If you want to go with him you'll have to slow down to his pace b/c he isn't physically capable of speeding up to yours.

Im hoping we complement each other. He lifts weights but lacks cardio and i do extreme cardio but haven't pulled out my free weights since I got them for christmas. We are gonna try to help each other out and I just want to make sure I dont push him too hard but still push myself.

Give it a try. Ten minute miles isn't that strenuous, and he may surprise you!

I guess if he doesn't run the same as you, it depends what's more important to you, having someone to run with or running at your own pace. It's like in any sport (I mountain bike, kayak, backpack)-we go at the speed of the slowest person. Everyone still has fun and everyone still gets exercise. I have a friend who runs with me sometimes-she is more fit than I am, so she slows down to my pace. I have another friend I run with sometimes and she is brand brand new, so we go at her pace.
