Salad Ingredients

I’m no salad dodger, I love them!

This week my salad base contains…

Spring onion (scallions)
Pumpkin seeds
Soya beans
Sliced red onion
Bean sprouts
Baby carrot
Red seedless grapes
Celery
Shredded Cucumber
Cos lettuce
Baby spinach leaves
Baby plumb tomatoes
Pitted green olives
Cooked beetroot
Chopped salad tomatoes

On top of that I have different toppings, today is turkey, tomorrow Feta & black olives, etc…

Any Ideas of what to add to the base salad, to make it even better/more interesting/more seasonal?

    I use a Mesclun mix and baby spinach as the base with pea shoots, cucumber, carrots, button mushrooms, red onion and celery. Then I usually top it with either chicken or tuna :)

  • i've started cooking my own pinto beans in the crock pot, and adding about 1/2 a cup to my salads. lots of fiber and potassium and no sodium (unless you're adding it!).

    Some good ideas! I may try some Jalapeno peppers too!

    I always always add fresh corriander, rocket and peppers to my salad for flavour.... these feed my pallet well :)

    Assorted field greens, and spinach
    Chicken
    Pumpkin seeds
    Raisins
    Onion
    Grape tomatoes
    Cucumber
    Mushrooms
    Light feta cheese

    ...
    I also like peppers, hot peppers, olives, radishes, celery, I only stick with one salad dressing that I like so I like to add lots to my salads. I eat salad every day too!

    Pepperoncini, spinach, red bell pepper, avocado and artichoke hearts also make it into my salads in varying combinations in addition to other ingredients already suggested.
