Had a bad craving for it this weekend. Got some spicy tuna, spicy scallion and unagi sashimi. Loved it!

Yum! I LOVE sushi, but it's something of a splurge.

I could easily spend $60 just on little old me.
  • I've done that before. I'd say it was horrible to spend that much but it's so worth it. Only downfall is I'm allergic to sesame so it's hard to find a place that actually listens when I say no sesame. Have one now tho I love this place.

  • Oh I love sushii!!! I will be craving it all day to day :) Spicy tuna rolls, super crazy rolls....... I might have to get in some extra workout time this week to make room in my calories for some sushi!
  • Well sushi can actually be very good for you. I pushed it yesterday with 2 spicy rolls which are not low in calories due to the mayo. But sashimi is always a low calorie option, and a lot of plain rolls (fish, avacado/cucumber, rice) are about 150 calories like a regular tuna roll. Also miso soup is very good for you.

I love sushi, too! If you pick the less fatty fish and go for sashimi, not sushi, it can help. Sometimes half the calories are in the rice. As a rule, chewy stuff (octopus, etc.) is lower in calories than the meaty stuff (salmon, yellowtail). Granted, eating all octopus doesn't really cut it!
  • I have not tried octupus yet I wanted to yesterday after staring at it at the sushi bar. I love my eel tho.
  • I tried it for the first time at the start of this month! The more I ate it though, the worst it tasted for me >.<

That's because you're a lemon poppy seed muffin with a bag over your head. Do muffins have taste buds?

That is a good point! I never thought the bag over my head & not having taste buds would effect it :P

i tried it for the first time a few years ago and fell in love with it. Sadly a year ago I developed an allergy to sesame (which sushi rolls are covered in) so was turned away from it for a bit but now just order it without sesame.

Don't know of any sushi places in Rotten Groton though.

As a cat, of course I love sushi! I can't make it myself, as I have no thumbs!
I haven't found a calorie source for my favorites. I found a website the had 8 or 10 most popular rolls, but restaurants offer dozens of varieties. I just make my best estimate and enjoy!

Good to see a cat up and about on a Monday morning. My rule of thumb is: Any Chef specialty rolls (too many calories), simple rolls (good for you :) )

I do! But I dont have any sushi eating buddies out here so I never have it. Picked some up at the market that was supposed to be "fresh" and uh.... no way! I save it for when I go home and then have a massive sushi date with my friends. yum!
