I have been working on trying to become a runner. The longest I have gone is a mile and a half. Well today I pushed and pushed and got to 2 miles! I was so excited I clapped for myself with people looking at me like I was crazy! I didnt care I was trully excited. I havent ran 2 miles straight in my entire life. It took me 27 minutes.

Great job! I know what you mean, too. I ran my first 11 minute mile yesterday and threw my hands up in the air and did a little skip for joy when I made it. I don't think anyone saw me, though. :laugh:0

Great job!
In striving to run longer distances, try mixing in some walking before you're too tired to continue.
Over the last six months, I've gone from a long run of 10 miles to a long run of 32 miles by following this method.
Walking gives a chance for your running muscles to recharge a bit and for your heart rate to slow down.0 -
WTG! Keep up the great work! I'm hoping to be to that point some day soon

That's awesome! I did the same thing when I started running. I'd never run in my life and took it up in March of this year. At first I increased the minutes I ran 2, 3, 5, 7 mins ... but then I started to do it by 1/2 miles. Once I reached 3 miles I was so proud and felt so accomplished. I did my first 5k in July and have slowly lost the gusto I had for running. I still run but not as much as I should to keep up with it. Keep it up and good job! Its a great accomplishment and you should be proud!

I agree with this. I actually walk/run in intervals a la Jeff Galloway. 3 minutes running (~ 6 MPH) and one minute walking (3.5 MPH) are my current intervals. I can do this much faster than I could just run and I have pretty impressive calorie burns, too.Great job!
