I have been on this sight for 5 days and I am really trying to be good and the 1st few days have gone well but today I just I am craving EVERYTHING! I am at home with my 5 month old all day, I started the day with a walk which was good but then I just had this hunger which I find so hard to satisfy. I feel like hiding, sneaking food, so my husband doesn't see me. We have had dinner but I just want to eat chocolate NOW, he has gone upstair to settle the baby and normally I would be stuffing my face right now but instead I have come here to share, so I am sorry for this outburst, I feel so ashamed. I did stuff in some smarties (which are supposed to be for my 3yr old as special treat) before I made it to the computer, I digust myself sometimes! I've even been considering cheating on my food diary, who stupid can you be?!!!
Thanks for listening to my crazy thoughts, just had to let it out!

The self control has to come from you. One day every now and then of enjoying is okay, but don't over due it. The other night I went to the state fair with my boy and his girl friend. I went over by about 300 cals, but it was so good. One day at a time!!!!0

It happens...Some days I just want any and everything I can shove in my mouth...the cure?? Allow yourself a treat and then don't feel guilty about it. The more you deny yourself of "treats" the more you will want them...Don't cheat your diary. Even if you go over still log and later when you're feeling better you can look back over it and see where you need to improve. Weight loss is not easy - trust me I know...I lost 60 pounds before and I've slowly put back on about 40 so I'm starting over again...0

Ahh, man, that just sounds like torture! And I'm sure we've ALL been there!
My suggestion to you is to have a small "treat" box. You could put small pieces of chocolate (dark, preferrably), 100-calorie snacks, other things that you might crave, and only allow yourself to visit it ONCE a day! That way, you'll get a little something you crave, but you won't go overboard.
You don't want to be feeding those cravings, but you also don't want to be obsessing about them. You need to find that balance.......and allow yourself small tastes without going crazy!
That's what I do, anyway. If you deny yourself, you will probably do much more damage.........
Success to you!!!0 -
i don't know what your diary looks like, so i have no idea what you could do better.
i find that a big breakfast, about 1/4 of my daily allotted calories, helps me stay full in the first half of the day. having a low calorie snack in the morning is not bad for you. i go for some coffee and a granola bar, some water. maybe yogurt mixed with cereal.0 -
Cheating and sneaking is only hurting you. It doesn't affect us or your hubby. You can feel disgusted with yourself or you can just stay firm. Since you haven't been on long, I'd recommend upping your calories a bit and slowly lowering them down. Don't just cut off cold-turkey or these cravings will probably get the best of you.0

Don't feel bad. It's difficult to break habits and it's hard to ignore cravings. Don't be too hard on yourself or too strict in the beginning. You can't change all your habits at once, it's just too overwhelming mentally and physically. Have a treat if you need one, even if it puts you over your calories goal. Most people can't give up treats cold turkey, most have to wean themselves off as they make healthier choices. You should also make sure you aren't restricting your calories too much at first. If you're feeling hungry and are used to overeating you should set your goal to lose .5 pounds per week until you're used to eating less.0

You can hide and eat or eat out in the open. It enlarges the same areas. The sweet cravings get better. Took me about 3 weeks. Dark chocolate helped. Hang in there. Your worth it0

I call this the "hungry horrors"...an insatiable hunger for everything. The good thing is that you came here instead of falling back into your old habit. I have heard, from several people, that the longer you stick with it and eat healthy the more your body will crave healthy food. If you know that you have a chocolate craving at night, maybe you could get some dark chocolate and freeze it and allow yourself a little snack at night? Just make sure you log it and it fits into your calorie budget. I find that when I am really craving something, squeezing it into my budget doesn't make me feel as guilty as binging and feeling like I have to start over the next day. You can do it!! Feel free to friend me if you would like...I am new to the site and would like to have a large support group0

Oh honey, been there, done that! Don't beat yourself up, just sitting down and posting took courage! Try your hardest to journal everything! If you bite it: write it! I'm trying this site too, after a few years yo-yoing on the weight watchers site. You are not alone in your journey. Good luck!0

Take a DEEP breath!!!! Focus on all the reasons why you are on MFP.
Don't let chocolate rule your world! You are in charge.
If I have the need that I really need chocolate. I opt for a 25 calorie cup of diet hot cocoa. It does the trick.
You can do this!!0 -
Everyone has their good and bad days, you just have to get yourself on the course and try to stay on it. First off you have to think about why you are eating. If you aren't hungry you have to find other things to grab, a book, play with the baby, go for a walk, something that doesn't involve food. We all know how yummy food is but it will be just as yummy in moderation. This is a journey that is hard work but it will take dedication on your part. We are all here to motivate and help but it's up to you to want it bad enough to discipline yourself. Try healthier alternatives to some of your favorites. There a several websites that have lower cal versions of a lot of foods. I can inbox you some if you'd like. You are not alone in going overboard sometimes but remember ultimately what you are trying to accomplish. You CAN do this!!!!!0

What ever you do don't cheat on your diary, you'll only be cheating your self.
Here is what I try to do when I have a craving.
1) drink a bottle of water
2) go for a litle walk or do some sort of short exercise
3) wait to see if the craving passes after doing both of these
If not have just a lil bit of what ever it is and usually this helps me.
You can do this! Take it one day at a time and find what works for you.0 -
Try cocoa roasted almonds. They have a great chocolate taste but are super filling so a handful will usually satisfy and keep you from craving more. A glass of chocolate milk (regular, soy, almond, whatever you like) is a good way to satisfy a chocolate craving too. You can get reduced sugar versions of Hershey syrup or Nestle Quik (and others I'm sure). Strawberries dipped in reduced sugar Hershey syrup are really good too, but not very filling.0

Better to write it here than eat it there.
Read lots of forum posts. It kills time, and keeps you out of the kitchen. And you just might learn something....(like you're not alone!)0
