Hey everyone,

I am looking into making smoothies for meal replacements when I am on the go...but there are so many powders to choose from, and some that are not too appealing... I was looking for some recommendations of powders you find that are not too chaulky and have a good flavor to them???

Thanks :)

    Myofusion.
  • I am having good luck with GNC Total Lean in French Vanilla. I have been on it for a while and not at all tired of it.

Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle. Love it - my chocolate milk treat. 100 calories, 24g protein, 0g carbs. It does have artificial sweetener, though, in case that is something you avoid (sucralose).

    crushed ice
    coconut milk,unsweetened
    little water (if needed)

blend or put into magic bullet. the bullet works great.

I get the 'cheaper' stuff from Wal-mart. Six Star and Body Fortress... I have had no problems with basic flavors (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry) but I advise against chocolate peanut butter. It tastes gross. Get regular chocolate and add your own PB!

That is who I use too. They were cheap (I buy them at the Vitamin Shoppe for about $20 for a 2 pounder), 24g protein per scoop and low sugar. The chocolate and strawberry are good, cookies and cream was not. They have oodles of flavors.

Goes good in oatmeal, and dissolves quickly and completly with just a shaker bottle if you are on the go.

I use the whey isolate protein powder from costco. I love it! I've been using it for years now and so has my hubby, we both love it.
  • I use Muscle Milk Light Vanilla Creme and Ultimate Nutrition Prostar Cookies and Cream and I like both of them.

Body Fortress Whey Protein Strawberry flavor, and 4 Ever Fit the Isolate Whey Protein, Strawberry-Kiwi or Tropical Mango flavors.

I don’t like chocolate flavors because I make my smoothies with Ocean Spray Diet Drinks, not milk. I add fresh or frozen fruit, sometimes Greek yogurt and ice. Sometimes I put the smoothie in the freezer for an hour and I have it almost frozen as a desert.

You can buy Body Fortress at Walmart, and 4-Ever-Fit at Vitamin World, and I know that Costco is also selling a Whey Protein powder but I don’t know how it tastes.

    Enjoy!

I use Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Natural Whey. I've tried both the strawberry and vanilla flavors and they're both good. They mix well in a blender and, as they name states, they're all natural.

    For breakfast I LOVE:
Naturade Soy Protein Meal Replacement (vanilla) with Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Natural Whey (strawberry)... ends up being like 40+ grams or protein and I'm full for hours.

You can put the whey in anything to make a great shake with some milk (I do light silk soy milk) and frozen bananas. YUM! My breakfast just about every morning during the week. Make it the night before, shake it up in the morning, and I'm good to go!

WOW!! Thanks everyone so far! I guess I have some research to do!! It's great to have SO many people to "look out" for you when you are on a "journey" like this.

    Thanks again!!
  • Body Fortress Super Advanced Premium Whey Protein. 26g of protein per scoop, and the vanilla is actually pretty pleasant. I also liked that I didn't have to whip it to death to get it to dissolve, and no "surprise powder clumps" in the middle of the shake.

I also like the Body Fortress Chocolate. I blend it with skim milk and ice. Tastes like an old fashioned malt! And it very filling.

Now I am not sure if any of you know or if it matters...But I though Whey protien was supposed to "bulk" you up and is used to "gain" weight??

I just want to get an idea, so that I am not buying something and ending up like the Hulk. <

It's a myth that protein powders are used to just bulk up. They're a good meal replacement (esp if you add other stuff), keep you full, and help repair muscles after a workout.

I personally use Optimum Nutrition Nitrocore...has casein and whey protein, so it's good to keep me full longer and helps w/ post-workout soreness.

that is a myth, but stay away from ones with creatine. that stuff will hinder weight loss.
