P90X Nutrition Plan

Hi all!! I started doing p90x yesterday and decided not to do the food plan. When I used their formula to calculate my daily caloric intake, it told me that I need 2400 calories per day. MFP tells me that I need 1200. 2400 seemed like ALOT to me and when I did try to plan a day out to try eating the 2400 calories, I found it near impossible to eat that many calories in one day. I know the more active you are, the more calories you need... but double seemed like waay too much to me. Has anyone else done the nutrition part of the program? Any advice???
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

add in all the cardio p90 has you doing a day to your exercise program and the amount of cals you need daily will increase significantly0

check out this message board...you can get all of you p90x nutrition questions answered there. You will definately need to eat more than 1200 cals. But you won't need 2400 either. You will need to create a caloric deficit. Check out the link. It will help.

The program calls for me to take in 3000 calories per day. I was taking in 2200 without bonking. I'm now down to about 1800 (after dropping 35 lbs) and I'm fine.0

Yeah, try adding it in this website and see what it says then. I only did half an hour on the ellpitical yesterday and they gave me 400 more cals to eat. If you eat too little and exercise too much your body will hang on to all the weight.
My fiance and I just downloaded some of the PX90 stuff....I haven't done any yet...is it a good workout?0 -

It's intense.0 -
My husband was in the same boat, but he just tried to stick to the portion part and get as close as he can on the cals.
I try to do at least 1800. I'm doing about 1600-1800 (5'6", 138lb) but I custom set my percentages (home, goals, change goal, custom) to 50% protein, 30% carb, 20% fat. I find it easier to keep track that way.
I do cheat a little (can't avoid sweets or diet coke), but I log them and add them in as carbs. I feel good doing this. If I'm still hungry, I try to snack on veggies or a few almonds.0 -
I have a 2nd hand version of P90X that didn't come w/ the nuitrition guide, can anyone give me any info on it. Or at least for calculating calories and %ages??0

Yesterday was my first workout with it, but it was pretty intense and I am feeling it today. I also do 30 minutes of cardio each day (running on the treadmill or the elliptical machine). And after doing the p90x I really saw how weak I am!!!0

What are your suggestions for eating the extra protein. I've been working on a 50%protein 30%carb 20%fat for about a week now and am having super trouble getting protein and am continuously going over on my carbs. What do you think I can do you remedy this?0

My philosophy is...when in doubt, protein shake. It's not easy getting all of that protein down in the form of solid food. I'm not saying make shakes the staple of your diet but they are a more convenient way to get that extra protein.0 -
I do protein shakes too. I have 1 for breakfast and maybe another one at night.
Tonight I made deviled eggs (1 yolk to about 4 eggs).0 -
My girlfriend is not a fan of the taste of protein shakes. I don't know if that's the case with a lot of the ladies but I've found a protein that I use as a change of pace that's quite tasty.
It's called Syntrax Nectar Sweets. It has 90 calories per serving and, I believe, 23 g of protein per scoop. The flavors I've tried are Vanilla Bean Torte, Fuzzy Navel, Cappuccino, Iced Tea and Lemonade. All are tasty.0 -
so what you're all saying...is that there is no ---actual food thats much higher in protein than carbs?0
-
With P90X or similar workouts, I need more carb. My ratios are: 45 % carb/ 35 % prot/ 20% fat.0

There are foods that I do when I'm home (eggs, chicken salad, chicken wraps, hamburgers - basically any meat), but when I'm away from my kitchen work or crunched for time - I need to do shakes or bars.0
