Hunger pains vs Cravings

I find this quite an interesting subject actualy for me anyway! So basically before i started eating healthier and doing more exercise, i used to get cravings ALL THE TIME! It was only ever for sugary things like doughnuts and stuff like that but its not the same as being hungry! I can deal with hunger pains (when you stomach growls and hurts) but the cravings were unbearable! Id pick up a sugary snack knowing that in my head i shouldnt eat it, but it was like my hands and mouth had other ideas! Its almost like there is a taste in your mouth that you cant get rid of without eating something with loads of sugar in! Does anyone know what i mean?
Disscussion time!

I know exactly what you mean. I am still trying to figure out a way to not eat the sweets. My mind says no but my hands say yea. How do i get my hands to say no?0

Supposedly, if you go 3 days without eating any sugar at all you can break the cravings. It's like your body has to go into sugar detox and then after that it is not so hard. We should try it...my friend just did and lost 14 LBS in a month.0

Its not an issue for me anymore! I have disscovered something crucial to breaking the cravings! I think it has to be heavy intensity exercise on a fairly regular basis! If you do that then you can break them! That and eating healthier! I also find that a good protein filled breakfast helps too. I havnt had any sugar now for about 2 weeks. But before then i had all these problems! Im trying to figure out the key to it! But i think it is just a combination of all that i have listed above! :)Try it and see what happens!0

A quote I've seen on here triggered my change of mind for cravings- I haven't really had any since (which is a miracle for me!)
"Nothing tastes as good as being fit and healthy feels!"
And this was said by many who lost tons of weight- it really helped. I keep Slimfast Peanut Butter Crunch snack bars and Special K Chocolate delight for chocolate cravings- and since I am always within 400-700 cals under my "goal cals" If I get a cravings I can still work it into my day- portion control is KEY!

I've been on my new journey for about 3 weeks, and I no longer crave crap. I want real food, whole grains, veggies, protein. I even added half an onion to my chicken enchilada slow cooker meal (that i found the recipe for on here!) when I typically hate onions.
Must be working, I've lost 8 pounds in those 3 weeks!0 -
Yes! now its just a case of finding an equilibrium for net calories in my case!0

My solution to combating sugar cravings is to prevent them from coming on. Ever since I started focusing on getting plenty of healthy proteins in my diet the sugar cravings have completely disappeared!!! I swear it works, I used to have the BIGGEST sweet tooth. There are a few articles out there supporting this, here's just one:

"Have no sweets (that includes fruit, refined flour, and all sweeteners) until after 3:00 pm. After that eat either fruit or a fruit or grain-sweetened dessert rather than sweets that contained refined sugars. Eating sweets in the morning or early afternoon tend to stimulate sweet cravings throughout the day. You might feel sick from eating sugars in the early morning."
What a great tip!!0
