Does Fiber Really Help Shed Belly Fat?

My biggest problem area is my stomach, or what I like to call it "my abandoned rental property". I was 200.9 pounds when I had my second child after 4 weeks in the hospital I dropped to 160lbs, then gained most of it back without even noticing until I saw pictues of myself from her 1st birthday, and I made the promise to myself that I would never be so embarrassed of being in pictures with any of my family again. I was 192 lbs her 1st birthday and am 153 now. The acess skin how ever is alot harder to tighten up than I thought it would be. My belly is still pretty saggy and you can feel the muscle from the pilates abs and belly dancing tighten underneath it. I read in a riteaide Good Health that fiber can make certain fat that's stored nder your skin and streatchmarks can help it go away. I usually have a fiber bar here and there...I tried activia for 4 weeks and it gave me the worst stomach aches (i'm not lactose intollerant, I'm just not a fan of milk or anything creamy). Just wondering if the rumors were true, and how i can add more fiber to my meals

Hmm haven't heard fiber helps with that. Fiber helps you poop haha and stay full
A clean diet will help that tummy
Abs are made in the kitchen!0 -
Fiber gets credit for a lot, sadly a lot of it is unproven.
If you can continue your successful weight loss work and continue to get to "athletic" levels of body fat, a lot of the sag should pull in.
There is no guarantees in that.
Sun tanning under natural light, bio oil, and a few other products can help hide the stretch.
Good luck!0 -
I don't know anything about fiber helping to shed fat and stretch marks, but if you're trying to increase your fiber, you could try adding flax seed and/or flax oil to your foods. I add chia seeds to my yogurt in the morning, which is also a good source of fiber, since I have a flax intolerance. Also, there are many fruits and vegetables that are high in fiber. I don't think you need to resort to fiber bars. Also, I have heard that Activia can cause cramping in people who are sensitive to the bacteria that is added to it.0

Also if you are looking for good sources of fiber try berries. Frozen ones are better on the wallet tho. Raspberries have around 6g per serving i think (70 calories)
I try to get it from natural sources, not the glorified chocolate covered fiber bars... those tend to tear up your digestive tract >.<0 -
A high-fiber diet does help weight control, specifically targeting belly-fat. There is good solid science behind that "rumor". Here is a good link for info to start and the site itself has loads of recipes for healthy eating, high fiber, etc.

Myself I turn to bran flakes, broccoli, apples and beans and get at least 15grams a day in my diet.
No idea if fiber can help with the stretch though.0 -
Personally, cutting out carbs and sugar is what made my stomach shape totally change. When I "over fiber" I get really overly bloated.
I eat clean foods, low carb and get my fiber from veggies. That's what has helped me.
Good luck to you.0
