young and chubby

I've been "dieting" since I was in junior high and nothing has gotten me to my ultimate goal of 130. I got close at 145 but gained a lot of weight back. I'm at 160 :[ I'm too young to be struggling with weight issues. I need to start living a healthier life style. I figure this time it's got to really happen. I'm a senior in high school. Before I go to college I want to reach my goal. I suppose I'd just like to get some encouragement and talk to some other young and chubby people on MFP. Let's here your story.... :]

the coolest thing about weight problem's is that it is a very equal opportunity giver. it doesn't care if you are young or old, man or woman, black or white.
telling yourself that you are too young is silly. problems are problems, no matter what age. i'm glad you recognize it, and hopefully you can turn things around for yourself early, rather then later in life. adopt some new habits, and keep learning.0 -
Good luck & good job on choosing to do it the right way. Your story reminds me of myself. I'm 25 now & still overweight. In high school I weighed 160 & got down to 135- the bad way, I starved myself with one meal a day. I was miserable & only had enough energy to sleep all the time.
I know you can do it! :happy:0 -
Welcome to MFP, so glad you are here. I have only been here about a month but I have found it so helpful and the people are amazing and supportive. Feel free to add me if you want.0

hey, idk how tall you are, but i've been 5'9" since i was a freshman in high school and on top of the "giant" factor, i was pudgy. it was hard for me because all of the girls around me were an average height of 5'4" and they were all so skinny. I felt beyond self conscious. i always thought to myself, "if only i was short and skinny like all these other girls, i'd have no trouble finding a date to homecoming/prom." my biggest in high school was a size 15. my smallest was a size 10. i gained some confidence at the smaller size but i still felt chubby and gross compared to the other girls. but you know what i found out from some of my male friends after i moved off to college? i found out that a lot of guys actually DID like me in high school....they just thought i didn't like THEM because i would barely talk or make eye contact with them. my low self esteem is what held me back. if i had just embraced my height and my womanly curves i think high school would have been a lot smoother for me. now, i don't know what your motivation for weight loss is. i guess mine was popularity/male attention. just remember that you are beautiful already. based on your pic you aren't obese and you aren't in need of asap weight loss because its a health risk for you or something so just keep in mind that being "skinny" isn't a solve-all-problems type of thing. you are who you are at any shape or size. embrace yourself and you'll gain the confidence you need to make it smoothly to adulthood. if you really feel like you have to lose weight, what ever you do DON'T OBSESS OVER THE SCALE. concern yourself with your health, not a number. good luck with your journey.0

I agree with the above poster and though Im a bit more than a decade off your age, I have been obese sincethe age of 7. I remember wearing a womans size 18 jean shorts at age 11 and them being skin tight. I was pretty active but never a exerciser, bad feet and ankles does not a runner make. Anywho Im so glad you have come here and made a wise and healthy choice. Im still new here but always ready to offer motivation and a smile. Feel free to add me if you need some encouragment or just an online buddy0
