Hey all, not been doing well with fitness etc. A few months ago i was ding insanity. got past the first moth then got tonsilitis. doctor told me not to work out for a month till i Was fully recovered. That was fine, but I just couldnt get back into it. I had fallen off the band wagon. I decided 2 months ago I was gonna do It again. then the day before I was gonna start I fell off of a Kerb and tore the ligaments in my right foot(im right footed).
I still have a bit of pain if it bends in such a way, and walking for too long hurts it. BUT I WANT TO START AGAIN. I HAVE GAINED ALMOST 12LBS since stopping the first time. I NEED TO CHANGE.
So My question to you all is....Should I start working out again. or leave it for a while just to be on the safe side???????

it might be safer to just wait until you've healed, especially since Insanity is so...insane. You could focus on staying under your calorie limit for now until you feel ready to start Insanity again. I kept hurting my back with Insanity and had to stop a few times!0

I would never say don't do ANYTHING! Just do things you know you can handle. EVen walking short periods and resting. How about a stationary bike? Just eas into things and strengthen you calf muscles to help alleviate your ankle pain.0

on the biggest loser when people have lower bodyt injuries they still work out with shadow boxing, sometimes while in a squat position. it might keep your cardio going and resistance from punching but without the activity on your injured ankle?0

What is your doctor's advice? Did he give you any therapeutic exercises or stretches?0

How about swimming concentrating on your upper body? At least it's not weight bearing. I hate not being able to exercise when I'm injured or ill :frown:0

You could do a stationary bike, an elliptical, something with less impact that won't hurt your ankle much but still keeps you moving. You could also lift weights with your arms and do ab exercises. I would wait on the insanity, but there are lots of other things you can do to keep moving. Also, you could start some strength training that targets your lower half to help strengthen your ankles. This has helped me out a lot, as I have weak ankles.0

thankyou all for the quick replies. I think ill just concentrate on my upper body for just now. Ill give it another month then ill start working out. My legs are still strong etc, its just the slight pain in the ankle that puts me off. Gonna try and strengthen the ligaments, just by using a resistance band and increasing my range of motion with a bit of resistance. that was all the doctor said to do. then I should hopefully be good.
once again thanks for the replies.
could I maybe to a light jog???0
